Vegan Recipes? Diets? PETA?!?!?!

Question:

Vegan Recipes? Diets? PETA?!?!?

I am a 15 year old girl who loves animals. A year ago i really got into PETA, and the whole vegan thing. but my big fat "traditional" family said that was weird and expensive, but that if i was, dont tell anyone because they would think i am a freak. i eventually went back to being a fat meat eater. but hey, they also thought i was weird for being gay, right? so whatev. but now i am pround of that, and i want to slim back down and join PETA. what do you think? any good recipes? snacks?
thanks, -KiTKaT

lol i cant believe i have never even tried it. PETA isn't a necessary component of being vegan, although that is where many vegans get their start.

It's awesome that you're bucking the "traditional" lifestyle in favor of a healthier, more humane one.

My favorite is burritos... tortillas, rice, beans (not lard-based) salsa, guacamole, jalapenos...yum.

Please remember that veganism isn't about cutting animal products from your lifestyle, it is about replacing them with helathier, plant-based alternatives. It also means not wearing fur, leather, wool, buying products from comapnies that conduct non-required animal toxicity tests (most do), and frequenting zoos, circuses, races, and other places where animals are held in captivity and forced to perform.

BTW, don't listen to anyone who says you need to take a vitamin or supplement. I've been vegan since conception and have never had to take anything. The nasty, "traditional" American diet is the one that lacks nutrition. when you are done rebelling and trying to fit in to whatever you think is cool at the time, let us know. well... i'm not vegan or even vegeitatrian (i try every now and then.. someday maybe i'll actually stick to it when i cook my own meals and it's easier, ect.) but i DO know a awesome chocolate tofu "pudding" recipe. now, be warned, it probably won't help with the "sliming" but it's a great dessert in small amounts.

this was not my orginal link but it's the same recipe (i didn't invent it either)
http://allrecipes.com/recipe/tofu-chocol...

in small amounts, especially if you make it really rich with chocolate, it's great. and let it sit overnight in the fridge adn it will have a firmer more moouse-like texture that is great. might look a bit gross if teh tofu seperates with the water and stuff but stick a spoon and and just mix it back.
hope you like it and good luck... i really should try to go vegitairan again (i'm 15 too...) tofu stir fry:
drain and cube a block of extra firm tofu
fry it in a wok until it's golden
add veggies
keep frying
add stir fry sauce (black bean is good)
voila!
serve with rice or tortillas ...I thought you already joined Peta?
I dunno, eat lots of veggies and fruit...don't try any of the vegan dessert recipes...have some tofu for protein and yea, just eat through the vegan guidelines without indulging in the dessert recipes, I don't think it'll help with you wanting to be skinny if you have the dessert recipes.
... I am 15 too...and I love animals. But, I don't support PETA. I support the HSUS, I have always, but I focus more on them and the WWF.

RECIPES:
A Teen's Guide To Going Vegetarian & The Teen's Vegetarian Cookbook (search on AMAZON!)

SNACKS:
Nuts, edamame, soymilk, cheese, fruit, fruit smoothies, veggies, trail mix, granola bars, etc.

If you are doing this for animal rights, I wouldn't eat gelatin! =D Good luck, and great choice!
