i wanna eat chees and milk and stuff liek that but can i? There are three types of vegetarian: vegan (no animal products); lacto (adding dairy); and lacto-ovo (adding eggs to dairy). Vegetarians do not eat fish, poultry, meat . . . Anything like that. It's very simple.

The thing you need to remember is that you can't eat processed foods as a veggie, meaning things like Wonder Bread, Cheetos, Doritos, etc. You need to learn to combine whole grains (like brown rice or whole wheat groats) with legumes (beans) to make more complete proteins. It's also important to have a varied and rich diet: lots of fresh fruit, green leafy veg, legumes, whole grains, and dairy and eggs, if you wish.

I hope this information helps. Congratulations on your life choice, and best of luck to you . . . Source(s):
Veggie for over 30 years . . . just eat what u want im a vegetarian and eat no meat at all-no chicken, red meats and no fish. Being vegetarian means that you eat of diet of grains, fruits, veggies and dairy products. Go to Peta.org they have a lot of good recipes and info for becoming a vegetarian. Also there are countless amounts of info on recipes, lifestyle etc, just google it! Well, there are different types of vegetarians. I, personally, believe you CANNOT be a vegetarian while eating animals. Though others will say you can eat fish, eggs, cheese, etc.
I personally believe if you are going to call yourself vegetarian, do not eat any animal or any fish. I'm a vegan. =3 Anyways, it's really up to you, because there are no rules really for being a vegetarian. But if you know other vegetarians, they most likely will not accept you as one if you eat animal flesh. Hope I helped! ^^ id say it all depends on why you wanna be a vegetarian. if you cant stand the thought of killing and eating an animal, then just stay away from meats and eat nuts and stuff high in protein. if you still wanna eat eggs, theres a good source. if you just wanna cut down on carcinogens (from red meats) then stick to seafood and white meats. remember that meat isnt just meat, there are many different kinds of meat, you dont have to cut it all out. if you just wanna try it out, just try what works for you... experiment! you dont have to be all out vegetarian or all out meat eater, there is an in-between! good luck! Here is radical idea. Decide what YOU want to eat, and don't worry about the label.

If you think it is okay to eat eggs -- eat eggs, if you don't think it is okay then don't.

How do you fell about milk? If you think that abuses animals don't use dairy products, if you are okay with it b/c it doesn't kill the cow, then drink milk.

Honey - some folks have a problem with how the bees are treated others don't.

There are some folks who don't farm animals but will eat fish.

Some folks don't eat meat as a food, but don't worry if gelatin is the 15th ingredient.

But to answer your questions vegetarians eat eggs and milk, vegans do not. Neither eat fish. if you eat cheese and milk and stuff its called a lacto vegeterian which is what i'm trying to be right now. although there are milk alternatives that taste good like soy milk i wish i could say the same for cheese No,vegetarians DO NOT eat meat of any kind(yes, fish is meat too). You can eat cheeseeggs, and other dairy products, just make sure the cheese is not made with animal rennet(enzyme from calf's stomcah). You can eat whatever you like. Now if you follow the old time vegetarians that you have on V&V forum they will say NO.

But other places in the world where the whole country practically will tell you YES. As long as it' is fish, poultry, or seafood --- but NO RED meat.

Dairy is fine too.

OR you can be a Flexitarian Vegetarian where the majortiy of your diet is veggies ... 75, 80, or 90 percent of your diet has to be veggie stuff. You can only eat meat 25, 20, or 20 percent of the the time.

This isn't a real good forum because there are a lot of crazy people who don't get out much. So don't let them lay a guilt trip on you. Google Flexitaria Diet and you will get a whole bunch of sites. It's the latest and bestest! And you can actually stay healthy without a lot of worry. Vegetarian - eats no meat.
Ovo-lacto vegetarian - eats no meat but eats eggs and dairy.
Pescatarian - eats fish.
Vegan - eats/uses no animal products whatsoever.
