What is a good vegan substitute for honey?
I was thinking either maple syrup or corn syrup. I've never tried either, but I was thinking it might be good for a smoothie sweetener. I just want to add a little sweetener to my smoothies. The recipe calls for honey, but I realized that honey is not vegan.
Answers: Yes, I think the amber agave nectar is your best bet if you looking for a good substitute for honey. I have tried the lighter (color) agave and it just does not have the depth and flavor complexity that you find in different varieties of honey...so I would ask for the amber instead.

I suggest that you forget about sweeteners. If you're cooking something, maple syrup, corn syrup, agave nectar, or brown rice syrup will work.
