If you're a vegetarian is it ok to eat things with beef flavoring like ramen noodles?!

Question:

If you're a vegetarian is it ok to eat things with beef flavoring like ramen noodles?

Answers: In my opinion yes, because it really isn't beef it's just made out of artificial flavoring. But it depends on your beliefs as well. But I'd say go ahead!!! Your just tasting artificial flavoring it doesnt even have 1% of real meat in it so it's ok. Source(s):
Read the package of the Ramen flavoring Vegetarians do not eat foods with anything that came from a dead animal. depends on what you believe, and how they get the flavoring

many vegetarians dont have chemicals, like flavoring, as well as meat, choosing to only eat natural health food products yeah it is because it is still haelthy but at the same time it is still fatting Unless it very specifically says otherwise, beef flavored foods are made with beef or other slaughter byproducts, so they are not vegetarian. Try oriental flavor Top Ramen, it's veg. How is that "Beef" flavoring made? Is it chemically made with herbs & stuff so is not made with Beef or it's if Beef in powder form?

I've always assumed the latter so it is not veggie. its perfectly fine as long as there isnt actually any beef in it. if it has the suitable for vegetarian label its A-OK! There are no "rules". Everyone who chooses to be vegan, chooses to what level. Some still eat dairy and some even fish and chicken.

If you do not want to consume anything close to meat, check the ingredients and see where that beef flavor comes from. Chance are it is some form of boulion or hydrolyzed beef protein (meat source) but it could be artificial.

The amount will be very very minute however.

One brand of these may have beef and another not, as well.

Many products now say safe for vegans or vegan friendly, but many that are ok do not. I know some vegetarians DO eat beef flavored things and drink milk and eat eggs. BUT a vegan would ABSOLUTELY not eat beef flavored or eggs or drink milk.. If you are vegetarian and it has no meat or meat based products in it then you can eat it and still be vegetarian. However, as to whether it is ok to eat beef flavoured noodles.....no....they are bad for you regardless of your dietary choice. Too much salt. Have a salad instead. Millian B,
Hi Millian, I once mentioned being a vegan on here, except for the fact that every once in awhile I would eat salmon and chicken, for the protein of it. And boy, oh boy did I get slammed-down, for mentioning the meat part, but yet I called myself a "Vegan"!! The majority of my diet consisted of vegetables, and fruits!! Except at dinner times I would have a baked potatoe with salsa, and some salmon or baked chicken. So, I dont call myself a "Vegan" anymore, since this offends so many people!! Besides, I'm not on that diet anymore, this was many years ago. But, dont allow anyone to put you down for asking this, or try to belittle you, because of the flavored beef. Its not actually the real deal,or it wouldn't be so cheap to buy if it were!! All's it is, is flavored beef, or chicken, so they shouldn't "JUDGE" you, for this at all. If they do just ignore those guys, and move onto more positive people who answer your question, you know. Good Luck, hun!! Smile!!! Yes, because flavoring is approved by the Global Vegetarian/Vegan Ways & Means Committee and they make the international rules for vegetarians and vegans. Whether you're vegetarian or not, no one can tell you what is "okay" to put in your body. That is the ultimate in personal decisions.

That being said, many vegetarians consume byproducts, such as beef flavoring. Vegans, however, would not. Also there are many meat flavorings which do not contain animal byproducts. "Bacos" for instance, do not come from pigs.... It would depend on what the beef flavoring is made from. Many soy products have "flavorings" that aren't from the meats they are trying to mimick.

HmgBrd----those people that chastised you are hypocrites. There is no such thing as a true vegan. You cannot eat commercially grown veges or fruits and cannot use a vehicle of any type, bicycle included, and still be a true vegan. I applaud that they try, but calling themselves "vegan" is inaccurate. Beef flavoring is still made with meat by-products or chemicals that are definitely not good for you. Also a real vegan would not wear, eat or drink anything that has come from an animal.
