Question:

What Can A vegetarians eat?

i am thinking about becoming a vegetarian but the only vegetable i like is corn and potatoes. ive tried a million times to like vegetables but i cant. is it possible for me to still be healthy without meat.

Answers: Well it sounds like you have a problem then. I personally eat for sustenance and survival first, with taste coming second.

And besides, there are thousands of edible plants on the earth. literally thousands! im sure there is many more that you would like.

Peas are fairly close to corn, theres heaps of potatoe varieties too, including sweet potato.

if you like things like potatoes then you might also like legumes like chic peas and lentils, they cook up to the same kind of consistancy as potatoes.

theres also fruit, seeds and nuts and grains, they are all vegetarian and there are a plethora of varieties.

As for being healthy without meat, humans are incredibly healthier without meat.

meat is loaded with saturated fat, which humans have no dietary requirement for. saturated fat contributes to heart disease and obesity.

meat also has far too much protein in it, which significantly contributes to osteoporosis and heavily taxes our liver and kidneys.

Also, dont be fooled by urban myths, there is nothing in meat that cannot be obtained from a plant based source.

We dont need meat, milk, cheese, eggs, soy or tofu. mother nature provides all the sustenance we need, we dont need any of that gooey rubbish.

amino acids are used throughout the body, not just in the brain and there is no essential amino acid in meat that cannot be found in a plant based source. hemp seed contains all the essential amino acids in a single plant source and we dont even need them all in one source, you can get them from many sources over time, there is no need for complete protein meals as the body stores amino acids in the liver and in the stomach. vegetables Im fasting at the moment & im hating it.. cheese.. cheese cheese.. i need steak steak steak! You can eat fruit. fruit is the best thing for vegeterians. not it is not possible Umm sweetiepie?

VEGETARIANS ONLY EAT VEGETABLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... well if you liked the taste of meat, there are plenty of fake ones that still taste pretty good and have protien in them and there are tons of other things you can eat to be healthy like salad and a lot of fruit There are so many supplements these day's for vegetarians that it has taken the anguish out of it all.
Tofu is a great supplement for meat and nuts are good in anything.
They even make fake bacon these day's
Good luck and good for you :) Mushrooms kinda have a meat like texture
Beans are yummy too dont become a vegiterian, your brain needs amino acids and many of those essential amino acids can only be found in meat, nowhere else. Vegetarians eat everything but meat. There are plenty of sources for protein and essential vitamins and good stuff. It is possible to have a well-balanced vegetarian diet.

Eat almonds, sunflower seeds. Try different fruit. Prepare different vegetables (try them they won't kill you) in olive oil for a better taste.

You can still eat eggs and dairy if you're a vegetarian. a whole lot of VEGETABLES....more vegggies

and more veggies!!! =D yes you can be healthy without meat but if you dont like your veggies you are going to have a really tough time and might end up becoming sick so drop the red meat beacuse there is really no nutritional value in it and stick to white meat and veggies You can be a vegetarian and simply not eat meat. That leaves you with a great deal of variety in what you can eat:

-Vegetables
-Fruits
-Lentils (great for replacing nutrients found in meat.
-Cheese
-Eggs
-Tofu

Some vegetarians allow themselves to eat fish, and others even allow themselves to eat white meat (meat that doesn't have blood in it, e.g. chicken breasts).

It all depends on why you want to be a vegetarian to start with. (Health reason? Animal rights? To be cool? :) ) Ummmmmmm..............
Veg. food!!! There are still a lot of foods available...pastas, rices, tofu, tempeh, all sorts of soy products. Also there are other grains: oats, buckwheat. You can find recipes made with corn and cornmeal. There are all sorts of fruits too. Vegetables are not normally used as a protein source but with proper food combining you could create total proteins. Dairy products provide necessary calcium & protein and give some variety to the vegetarian diet. Check out "Vegetarian Times" magazine (if it's still around), your local health food store will have lots of ideas & info., & most likely some good cookbooks to give you a headstart on your switch to an all plant based diet. Nut butters are also good for protein (fat content is high, though) and delicious. Try Nutrella too. There are SOOOOOOOOOOO much more available to you than just the veggies you don't like. Pasta, mexican food, and asian food to name a few.....I think it's a great choice i've been one for 12 years.....try the site below you will find everything you need :) A vegetarian generally eats everything except meat. You do not have to like all vegetables. If you eat some vegetables, plus fruit, beans, grains, etc., you can be perfectly healthy.

And if you don't want to go the whole road, you can become a partial vegetarian, for example drop beef and pork but eat chicken and fish or something like that. Just do what feels right. You can live healthy on just lots of fruits and seeds, beans, cereals, grains. However you should eat at least two vegetables beside what I said and corn and potatos are okay! If you only like 2 vegetables then I bet you haven't tried all the vegetables that exist in this world! Myself I use to only like broccoli and beets.. I didn't think I'd like any other vegetables cause they looked boring. I was suspicious of potatos cause of what's called their eyes! But now I like most vegetables but there are 8 that I don't care for but if they are cooked in the right way they are good! Creamed Corn can cover up the worst tasting stuff.. I accidentally spilled some Buckleys in some creamed corn once. I thought that was going to spoil the cream corn but it didn't. The cream corned was less sweet and a tad bitter. It was edible! I was really surpised that it wasn't as awful as I was expecting!

If you've ever tasted Buckley's mixture.. you know how awful that stuff tastes. You need to try to like some green vegetables.
I'll share a recipe for spinach that you might like. Spinach salad goes like this: cook some spinach with only the water that clings to the leaves. Add two spoons of soy sauce, one spoon of sesame oil, a spoon of sugar, and a little chopped garlic, mix it all around and hey presto, you have some yummy spinach. Its a Korean recipe.
What about Waldorf salad? Apples, walnuts and celery, It's pretty nice you know.
Just use really fresh veges. I always buy fresh fruits and vege.
On Monday you could make a salad, such as waldorf salad.
Tuesday spinach salad, Wed get out the frozen or canned corn, Thursday nachoes, beans and cheese and salsa, Friday potato wedges for example. Sat Corn fritters, Sun potato frittata with bell peppers. Use the freshest salad greens the day of purchase or soon after, then work through the cans and frozen items last. That way your salads will be very yummy. How about corn salad? Potato salad?
You can be healthy without meat. A days protein can be eaten with 2 spoons of peanut butter on two slices of bread.
Or Beans on rice. Look into food combining for vegetarians.
The only thing you may need is the occasional iron pill for iron levels in the blood. it is not possible!!
