How can you get really cheap food?
I have a very very VERY low budget and I'm a veggatarian. I need food (obviously) that is meat free so I really can't go to a fast food place or anything like that... Also, I need it to be easily accessable and HEALTHY. Any ideas?
Answers: if you live near to a trader joes that is the best way! i am not even full blown vegetarian but because im a poor college student i mostly eat tofu from there. the firm tofu (plain) is 99 cents! and you can get a good amount of meals and needed protein from that! then they also have a good frozen veggie section that is cheap, about a dollar for a bag of broccoli. alot of the stuff even comes with prepared sauces and since most of their customers are vegetarians im pretty sure they are meat free! i can usually leave with a weeks shpping around 15$ or less. The only way to get cheap food is to make it yourself, pack it and take it along. on sale and possible to freeze, those are what i would do. check for local food pantries. They supply food free to low income people in need. I dont know how they would go for vegetarian but its worth a look. You couls ask at a local supermarket if you can get a better price on quantity . buy some carrots, cucumbers, and tomatoes, and drink some tap water. go to the produce section of the grocery... it is very inexpensive to load up on veggies and make your own dinners. Buy whatever is in season at your produce department. That's when the item is cheapest and you'll have variety as the year goes around.
Dry beans and eggs are pretty inexpensive too.

If you have a local warehouse foods you can usually get what you need from the bulk food section....warehouse groceries are usually cheaper in all areas...including fruits and vegs...
