What is margarine made of?!

Question:

What is margarine made of?

my dad says it has NO dairy, true, i am trying to be a vegan, just started yesterday :).

Answers: A bunch of chemicals. Margarine is terrible for you!

It's hydrogenated and full of trans-fats, but no milk. It looks vegi to me! Sorta!
Ingredients ::
Hydrogenated Fish Oil, Soyabean Oil, Water, Salt, Monoglycerides, Lecithin, Sodium Benzoate (preservative), Anti-oxidants (BHA, BHT, TBHQ), Butter Flavour, Beta Carotene (colour), Vitamins E, D & A.
. Read the package label, it will have a list of ingredients listed in order of the amount in the product. I don't know, but ewww! Margarine is hydrogenated vegetable oil. I would not recommend eating it, it's terrible for you. Full of trans fat, clogs your arteries. Being vegan is partially about being healthy, right? Eating margerine just goes against it. If you want to substitute butter, use regular oil, ie; olive oil is great on toast, and canola oil can replace butter in recipes! :) Sometimes, if you really need to use a solid fat, try and research for other types. ;) Except for the ones like Smart Balance that use natural tropical oils, most margarines are shortening, artificial flavors, and artificial colors. Shortening is made by hydrogenating vegetable oils, but the part that doesn't hydrogenate isomerizes to the lower energy trans- version of the fatty acid portion of the triglyceride. Check the ingredients, not all margarines are vegan. Some contain milk, and some even contain fish oil (the omega 3 types). Otherwise margarine is normally made out of vegetable fat.

Good luck turning vegan, if you have any other questions, send me a message :-)

Go vegan! Many margarines have dairy.
BUT you can get vegan margarines at Wholefoods - they will be marked vegan Yup, it has no dairy. Its made up of vegetable oil and its a not-really saturated fat. Becoz, its buttercup ( made up of animal fat ) that is 100% saturated fat. Its good to eat, thats why people consume more margarine than buttercup.
But hey, anything that you eat can be dangerous if you consume it too much (including margarine / vegetables).

Peace!!
