The sheep used for uggs?
ok i feel soo bad now because i wear uggs and... i want to know that the sheep that they use for them. do they just hang them and slit their throught so that they die?
or are they more humane than that??
i feel bad now for wearing them knowing that the sheep had to die like that.
and yeah they do have to die because teh out side of tehm are sheep skin.. so dont say that its just the wool because i know its not.
and for the people who dont know what an ugg is.. its those boots that every other person has. if you still dont know then just google it.
Answers: Yup they are hung upside down and their throats are slit. A lot of sheep come from Australia (so not their natural environment at all). The size of the farms means they can't be properly taken care of, and a big percentage of them die. They also use museling (cutting a large share of skin of the rare of the sheep, without any anesthesia). The animals are often sent to Egypt to be killed. Some are dead when they arrive. Shocking videos of the slaughter houses there are available on PETA's site, but I'm warning you, they are hard to watch.
The best thing to do is to stop buying uggs, I think. Or get synthetic ones.
Go vegan! of course the sheep that they use for them are hurt, research shearing. i'm not going to say sweet little things so you don't feel guilty when you wear your monstrous boots. if you knew that they had to die for the sheep skin, why did you buy them? Just don't wear them! Are they called uggs because they are uggly? Or is it because everyone goes "uggh!" when they see an uggly pair of uggs? sammy! You were so much nicer when I was feeding you worms!!
The sheep are slaughtered without a doubt. I don't wear boots of any kind so I don't even know what an ugg is. It's more like the sound the pseudo-vegans make when they read my posts!
The leftover parts of the sheep are sent to animal rendering plants where they are turned into products like fertilizer for commercially grown produce.
So in fact, wearing the boots is no worse than eating commercially grown produce. I answered this question when you asked it the other day.... my answer is still the same.
