Is Vegan a religon?!

Question:

Is Vegan a religon?

Would you consider Vegan as a religon? Or is it just a lifestyle?
Also, what types of foods are they NOT allowed to eat?

Answers: I myself am a vegan, and i can tell you it is not a religion. it is, in some aspects, a strict form of a vegetarianism. The foods we CHOOSE not to eat include:

any dairy product (cheese, yogurt, milk)
whey (a byproduct of milk)
honey
gelatin
meat
fish
glycerin.

Vegans believe in the animal's rights. We also do not purchase any items or clothes containing:

wool
leather
skin of any sort
suede
silk
fur
and any other products made with animal products.

We also believe in using products that are not tested on animals, some examples of cruelty free products:

Revlon
Got2B
Almay
Aveda
Bonne Bell
Chanel
M.A.C cosmetics
Conair
Estee Lauder
Jane cosmetics
Hello Kitty
Kiss My Face
Wet N' Wild
Victoria's Secret
Tom's of Maine
Tommy Hilfiger
Nivea
Manic Panic
and many more.

www.peta2.com has all the information you need. no!
they cant eat anything that comes from animal i believe.
like milk and cheese they cant eat that.
so basically they just eat plants and some snacks tuff i guess. Just a lifestyle, (proof) I am not a religious person. It's a philosophy.

A vegan is someone who tries to avoid - as far as is possible and practical - all forms of exploitation of animals for food, clothing or any other purpose. This is for the benefit of people, animals and the environment. Vegan eat a plant-based diet free from all animal products, such as meat, animal milks, eggs, honey and gelatine. They also avoid animal products like leather, wool and silk for clothing or other purposes.

http://www.vegansociety.com/phpws/index.... wow. uh no vegan is not a religon.
and again wow. vegan and vegetarian section. think about it. NO MEAT OR ANIMAL BASED PRODUCTS! Were you maybe thinking "Wiccan"? That's a religion. Vegans are just vegetarians, who take it a bit further. That's all.

No... I'm not one, but I know a few who are. I think they're crazy, but they think I'm crazier. lol it's more like a cult. While veganism itself is not a religion, not wanting to harm animals may be part of a person's personal religious beliefs. Although it is not a religion it does share many characteristic with a religion.

An ethical frame work and detailed rules to fit within the frame work. It also has all the ritutal and prohibition one would find in a religion.

And some of its zealots are just a fantic as the religious.

What it missing is a belief that this philosophy came from a diety instead of a human.
