Veggie bacon?!

Question:

Veggie bacon?

Hi
Well i know its pretty early but anyway. Every christmas i always have a bacon bagel for breakfast but since becoming vegetarian this year i'm wondering if there are any alternatives. One that tastes as much like the real bacon does preferably.
Also if anyone has any other good vegetarian recipes i'd love to hear some x

Also, please dont say why do you want to eat something exactly like bacon if you dont eat meat? The reason i dont eat meat is not because of how i tastes (i actually really love the taste of meat) but i refuse to eat it after i educated myself on the production of it x

also, im from England so preferably English shops, thanks x My favorite is Morningstar Farms Bacon Strips. I have tried quite a few different brands, and this is the one that tastes the most like real bacon to me. I just lay the strips on a slightly oiled cookie sheet and bake them for 7 minutes at 350 degrees. They come out with just the right amount of crispiness that way. Be careful to cook them too long, they can burn really quickly.

Kim at http://www.peaceful-organic-planet.com/h... a vegetarian who loves the taste of bacon!?!
tha apocalypse is coming!!! Good bacon substitutes do exist. Check out places such as Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. There are a variety of fake meat products. Personally, I like the Yves brand for meat substitues. Smart Bacon by Lightlife is pretty good.
http://www.lightlife.com/bacona.html... veggie bacon definitely exists . . . i haven't tried it, but if you're going to have egg or cheese also on the bagel, the difference in taste or consistency of the bacon probably won't bug you too much. alone, you might notice.

i like your christmas tradition . . . it's nice to hear about what other people do. Wow, you plan a head, I haven't figure out what to make for dinner yet.

veggie bacon does exist, i haven't tried it, my salt content is high enough without it. Do they sell Morningstar Farms products in England? If so, their imitation bacon is pretty good. I find with veggie bacon, the longer you cook (fry) it ie, so that it becomes crispy, the better. Putting it on a bagel when crisp, you will never be able to tell the difference.
Cheers. typical vegan hypocrisy. would rather eat a chemical laden piece of card board that attempts to taste like the real thing. Hii
Have yew tried Quorn bacon it is lush :D yew can get it in most supermarkets

Try a supermarkets own brand aswell such as asda thts also good in my opinion. :D I love the taste of it too. Well like anyplace else in the world, dear --- In English shops as well, "veggie bacon" is pure crap. Go ahead, luv--celebrate Christmas the right way--have a bacon bagel for brekkie. Jesus would want you to not deny yourself on his brithday. I'm in Scotland and get 'cheatin bacon' in Holland and Barret - looks a bit like bacon, tastes ok but don't cook it for more than a minute or it goes hard. If you're not vegan, Asda and Tesco does veggie bacon strips in the frozen bit.
