Answers: Check out this recipe:
http://www.fabulousfoods.com/recipes/sou... 5 cups snow, packed
1 cup lentils
Salt and pepper to taste
Any assorted herbs and berries you can dig up from under the snow. Cranberries are plentiful at this time of year.
Flint and firewood
Optional: find a grazing cow, goat or sheep and milk her, then make farmer's cheese

Make a fire. Melt the snow in a saucepan and cook the lentils. Add the rest of the ingredients. Serve with farmer's cheese. Garnish with a few crabapples. My fav that gets raves when I serve it.
L's Vegan Lentil Stew
1 Cup Red Lentils
1 Cups Green Lentils
1 carton of Veggie Broth (about 4 cups)
2 Cups Water
1 Sweet Onion, rough Chopped
1/2 of each Red. Yellow & Orange Bell Pepper or all Red Bell, Rough Chopped
2 Large Carrots, Cut into disks or small chunks
2-4 TBS. Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Coconut Oil
1TBS of Fresh Minced Garlic ~ Not everyone likes this much so be careful with this.
2 TBS Celtic Salt
Few Grinds of Black Pepper *or use a few liberal shakes of Spice Hunter's All Purpose Chef's Shake (it's a blend of great spices)
Rinse & Drain Lentils
In a large pot, add oil heat, then lightly saute veggies. Add Lentils & Broth to pot. Bring to a boil, lower heat, cover & simmer until lentils & veggies are done.
Using both style of Lentils creates a thick stew. The red lentils cook faster & break down, making the broth rich & thick. As this cooks stir once in a while or it can stick.
Taste & Re-season as needed.
Cut up Red potoatoe(added when sauteing) &/or can tomaotes(added near end of cooking) can be added for a change of pace.
I serve this with Corn Bread.

Slainté (to your health) I have a fantastic recipe for a lentil-squash stew. You can find it here:
