I am interested in being vegetarian but I love meat too much can you help?
I want to loose some weight and be healythy.
I'm thinking of maybe just eating fish and vegatables. Maybe eggs.
Do those veggie burgers and fake susage taste like the real thing?
Answers: Google "Flexitarian Diets" and I'm sure you will find what you are looking for. Flexitarian Vegetarian diets are a growing trend. You can lose weight, be healthy and eat meat to include fish and eggs as well.
I'll tell you that processed veggie crap really doesn't taste like the real thing. They are expensive and really not worth it. Check out the flexitarian vegetarian diet. hey u can forget to eat meat in a way that u do not feel the absence ... only intrest is not enough ......even you start you will be bored soon and your love for meat will retract you,,just go for a balance diet vegies 2-days a week, meat 2-days & fish and sea food for rest.......in this way you will keep your intrest & love togather my sister went vegan, and after looking up all the gross things about livestock, she didn't miss meat a bit.
Which is why I refuse to look at them.
I've tried many meat substitutes. I've never tasted one that actually tasted like real meat. However, many of them were pretty good, just not as 'meat.' I think veggie burgers and tofu are pretty good.
Eating fish isn't vegetarian. Try going vege for a few weeks to a month. If you're still missing meat too much, it's probably not for you. Vegigie burgers are great if you dress it up add things if you make them on your own and put dressings or different condiments that are not that bad for you on them. I love them I eat the out all the time. But my favorite are turkey burgers they are awsome. I love a barbecue turky burger. Fish and veggies are the same. Just add good ingredents to make them tast better if your not that into them. I add garlic and onion powder or real to my veggies to give them better flavor. Good luck you don't have to be a vegetarian to lose weight and be healthy. You can still gain weight and be a vegetarian, you just have to have moderate portions of food. If you want to eat meat, don't eat as much of it. Exercise is just as important as what you are eating. Stay away from red meat and replace it with fish and poultry. (I love me some good chicken. lol)
The boca burgers and other meat substitutes are okay. I can't say I'm a fan of them, but yes. They do resemble red meat in taste. (Kind of.)
Stay heavy on the veggies with iron, though. (Beans and such.) Red meat is a great source for iron.
Also, if you do become a vegitarian and want to start eating meat again, do it slowly and small portions at a time. Your stomach develops enzymes that break down red meat when you eat it. After a long enough time of not eating red meat, these enzymes are passed through your system. You might get sick if you eat too much after such a long period. some people see fish as meat and no they fake burgers and sausages don't taste real. If your looking for meat alternatives try Quorn products. They do stuff like fake chicken fillets, meatballs and even chicken style nuggets if your into that sort of thing I agree with Mr. Meat on this one. I personally love meat, but I decided a few months ago to try and start being healthier so I just took it one step at a time. I eat fish, seafood and some chicken, but very little red meat. I am not sure if I will ever go vegetarian but just cutting back on red meat has made me feel a lot better. I think if I would have went cold turkey (pardon the pun) I would not have lasted very long. I think it is like anything else you have to wean yourself off of it. Good Luck! I became vegetarian by gradually eating less meat until I didn't eat it at all. It got to where it didn't taste good to me anymore and I noticed a difference in how I felt better on days I didn't eat it.
Sorry to lecture, but if you eat fish please don't call yourself a vegetarian. Call yourself pescetarian if you want to.
I like veggie burgers. I don't know if they taste like meat because it's been more than 20 years since I tasted it. Since the smell of meat cooking makes me a little sick, I suspect not. It really doesn't matter if meat tastes good or not, or if you like it or not. I'm sure heroin is also super fun, but it doesn't mean I'll go and shoot some. It's just like with drugs, cigarettes etc. One gets used to something, and it's hard to stop. People KNOW that these are horrible industries but choose to sponsor them anyway.
Once you realize that animals are not ours to use in any way, that animals are not to be made into products, it no longer matters if you like it or not. It's really that simple. :)
-Ms. green forget it... your on the wrong track...
to lose weight you must watch the caloric intake and try to stay away from processed foods.
simple... a vegetarian diet has the same issues as with all diets...
you won't lose weight unless you watch the calories and exercise.
eggs are crap.. they've got very little but cholesterol. (weight issues, hello) veggie burgers are also crap.. processed and high in sodium and calories.
same goes with all other so called 'processed' vegan and vegetarian foods.
you're better off with fresh meats from the butcher and fresh produce.
never think that a vegan/vegetarian diet is a good way to lose the pounds.. because there are fat vegans and vegetarians also.
i kid you not. Ah i'm on an uber healthy diet right now.
As far as meats go, eat only white meats, (chicken, turkey and fish)
A TON OF VEGGIES!! Avoid white potatoes, but sweet potatoes are fine (it's the starch) not to much corn either, and white rice isn't to good either.
Eat fruit! But try eating it alone, and wait a half hour or so after eating fruit before eating anything else.
Nuts!
Don't drink to much caffeine. And of course stay away from soda!!!
You don't want to eat to much bread, or pasta, occasionally is fine.
I think thats just about all i got! Good luck!
