I didn't mean to spark a conversation. It's my choice.

Producing fabric also uses oil so should all vegans run around naked? I don't get it.

Producing fabric also uses oil so should all vegans run around naked? I don't get it. look at all the wankers calling you a hypocrit... not comending you on what your doing for the enviroment etc..
"you don't eat any animal products and save hundreds of liters of water a year, thousands maybe... your carbon emissions are LOW! but you wear leather shoes so f*k you, your a bad person!!!"
I don't get it... i say well done for coming this far, caring this much and doing all this... If you can justify the shoes do it by all means..
i'm having a hard time finding non leather shoes that don't fall apart inside a week. At the moment i've had to start wearing an old leather pair from before my change, so i JUST get away with it...
Think if you really want to label your self acuratly it's strict vegetarian... but i'd just call my self a vegan if i were you, less confusing when explaining to others...
It's a personal thing, your making a personal choice, peopel should wind their necks in... your only a hypocrit if you're telling people that wearing leather is wrong and your wearing leather.... Hypocritical. I would say Vegetarian, but a hypocrite for calling yourself a vegan. Actually, I am going to let I Know You Miss Me Blind answer this one. He should be along shortly. SELLOUT The word is hypocrite. A dietary vegan. you're not a vegan.
simple as that. I am in the same situation. I say I eat a vegan diet but don't follow a vegan lifestyle. I make this choice for health reasons only and don't consider myself a hypocrite. You are not a vegan. You are a vegetarian eater. By saying you are a vegan, you are being hypocrytical. By saying you dont eat meat, you are being honest. But do not say you are a vegan i agree weth catkin! im a dietary vegetarian 'cause im a vegetarian to lose weight :-} i thenk its a healthier lifestyle. it has nothing to do weth ethnics, so im a dietary vegetarian ? Sorry to answer with a question, but - why?
I mean, if you've already made a decision not to use animals for food, then why wear them?
Do you know the facts about the leather industry? It's not hypocritical if your eating that way just for your health. Hypocrite I would say stupid but that's tough. You shouldn't call yourself a vegan just because... try to say you're vegeterian that's gonna sound much better on you You are a vegetarian.
If you ate eggs or dairy, you would be a lacto-ovo-vegetarian.
If you don't, you are just plain old vegetarian.
"Vegetarian" is supposed to imply a "vegan diet" but people started eating eggs and dairy and calling themselves vegetarian. Now, people like to eat fish and chicken and call themselves that, which is lying. That's why Donald Watson came up with the word "vegan". yea I say dietary vegan thats about it "Jack" vegan!!! I don't think there's anything wrong with saying "I only eat vegan food", as long as you don't say "I am a vegan" (because BEING vegan includes the whole lifestyle). That's the big difference. If you need a label, you could say you are a strict vegetarian. (As opposed to ovo- or lacto-) you're just human! and you are not a hypocrite. you can't be "perfect" all the time . . . i think there are varying degrees of veganism and vegetarianism . . . because of our motivations and what else is affected beyond our menus. You are not a vegan - you are normal. There isn't one. In French there is a distinction: a "végétalien" is someone, who like you, doesn't eat anything animal (including milk, eggs and honey), and a "vegan" doesn't use anything at all that used to belong to an animal; so no food with a face, no dairy, eggs,... but also no leather, silk,... no tested products,... I'm one of those.
But seriously, why do you still wear leather when you obviously care about animals? Don't take it the wrong way, it just doesn't seem logical.
Go vegan!
