Why do people think soy milk is better than regular milk?!
Why do people think soy milk is better than regular milk?
why do people think soy milk is better than regular milk even though regular milk has more grams of protein per serving and skim milk has no fat
Answers: Milk from cows has been implicated in some health problems people incur. Those affected seem to be less than 15% of the population but it is enough to cause others to have suspicion.
Some milk does have hormones that perhaps people should avoid, but there are milk products that testify they do NOT use hormones to increase production of milk. Those will be listed as BGH free. That stands for Bovine Growth Hormone free.
I have known a few people in my lifetime who could not digest dairy products. Their body did not produce the needed enzymes to break it down. So for them soymilk is a great alternative.
Much of this hinges on opinion. Some folks feel we should be steering away from animal products to avoid health problems that stem from the animal fats and cholesterol. The studies are still being conducted to learn the bigger picture.
So, in the meantime one can only read, study the issue and try to keep an open mind. And not be rude and insulting like some of the posters here. If that is what soy milk does to the attitude, I won't be buying any. It is the soy, soy has alot of health benefits. It is also good for people who can't digest regular milk.
I personally don't like the taste of it, i stick to 1% milk. well i drink soy milk cause im lactose lol but also soymilk tastes better and thicker to me .... and its also organic soo they say thats better for you ! Soy milk isn't packed full of hormones like regular milk.
Soy has many health benefits and is good for those that are lactose intolerant. sorry soy has no fat and has more protein and doesn't take like asprin.
deal with it... meatatarian.. you meat heads are so silly and gullible... what you don't know won't hurt you..
now go back and drink all that regular milk ok? leave US alone... ok? why is it you dumba.s.s.es have to stick your nose into our business....?
because you have no life?
bye bye... beat it.. scram.... my opinion, this is only a market promotion to increase the sell of soy beans. Now days they're pushing more drugs (growth hormones) into the cows to produce more milk. They feel that soy milk doesn't contain growth hormones to past onto the consumer. The chemicals that are given to cows to produce more milk
is being passed on to the people who drink the milk.
That is why girls are developing breasts now, at a younger
age, many are even starting their periods at age twelve. <}:-}) People may prefer soymilk for different reasons:
- It doesn't contain any animal products and is therefore completely animal friendly.
- Soymilk usually contains more fat than skim milk, but most of these fats are good/unsaturated fats. And unsaturated fats are essential in any good diet.
- Soy milk has been proven to have a positive effect on your cholesterol.
- Soymilk is suitable for people who are intolerant to gluten or lactose.
- Personally I think soy milk is tastier than cows milk. It tastes sweeter and fuller. If you're talking healthwise, people are probably looking at the cholesterol content.
If a person is a vegan or lactose intolerant, soy milk would make a good option for them if they still want to have "milk."
Also, skim milk is disgusting. It tastes like dirty water, and looks like it, too. This hormone argument is asinine. You can buy hormone free milk right next to the regular stuff.
The truth is that soybeans are a large and important crop for mid-west farmers. A food scientist somewhere discovered how to formulate this fake milk from the beans as part of a program to expand it's uses (as any good industry does). Then the marketing people got a hold of it and decided vegetarians and people with diet restrictions would be a good place to sell it. They push the health and "green" aspect of it as part of the marketing. People buy into it and buy the product. Which people? How many people believe this? I certainly don't. Your blanket statement implies that ALL people believe this... which is of course a false premise. I know, right?!?
Why would anyone give up all that yummy pus and bacteria found in cow's milk, just to drink some healthy bean juice???
Crazy... Well, the more protein is actually a liability. You see, societies with high dairy consumption actually have higher rates of osteoporosis. Excess protein causes you to lose calcium from your bones and can cause problems with your kidneys.
The majority of the fat in cows' milk is saturated, while soy milk and other plant milks are mostly unsaturated. Skim milk still has hormones and antibiotics that soy milk doesn't. milk coming off the farm DOES NOT have antibiotics in it, lets set that fact straight!..the milk from EACH farm is thoroughly tested at a lab before it hits the bottling plant (or cheese factory)..antibiotics ensure the farmer his livestock remain healthy when and if they need a little TLC...on an organic farm a sick animal must be sold off or moved to a 'conventional' farm if she is to require treatment with antibiotics to save her life...such a waste in some circumstances when it's nothing more than a simple 'cold bug'!
rBGH hormones are an issue tho...and we should be concerned!
soy is natural in estrogen.. i certainly wouldnt feed my baby soy infant formula! soy is being misrepresented as healthfood! anything that is so overly processed to be made edible should throw up red flags!!! soy was originally a forage crop for cattle..not a grain crop!
if you're still unsure about the use of antibiotics in livestock, then buy organic milk..preferably unhomoginized..
if you're lactose intolerant try goat milk or goat cheese..luckily nobody has developed rBGH for goats! Not all people, luv. Just some stupid veggie heads and all ignorant vegans. have you even looked at the nutritional facts on the back of milk vs. soymilk??
