What's in Ener-G egg replacer? what's the main ingredient?
what do you think of it? is there something better? if so, what't the name? thanks all
Answers: its potato starch and tapioca powder, both thickening agents, as that is what eggs are usually used for. it works pretty well for baking, but if the recipe calls for a large amount of egg in relation to the other ingredients it can end up kind of strange. in my experience, it hasnt had an effect on the taste of the product, but ive gotten some weird consistencies. Here's the link of what's in Ener-G Egg:

Ingredients
Potato Starch, tapioca starch flour, leavening (calcium lactate [not derived from dairy], calcium carbonate, citric acid [corn derived]), sodium carboxymethylcellulose, methylcellulose
I like the product. Use it as directions say & you'll get good results. I use it mostly in baking. A little goes a long way. I've never heard of it.
