actaully, im extreme about caring for animals, people have called be obsessed. i just care about my health to! i dont wanna die early or get cancer. obviously. NO vegaterians have less risk of death at a younger age. dont you think if you ate healtheir that youd live longer? well either way, tests have been done to show that vegetarians and vegans usually live a bit longer than meat eaters. iv heard that soy can cause cancer too, but really what doesnt these days? no im pretty sure it doesnt. iv been consuming just about everything soy for a number of years and have known people to do the same. soy milk is healthier, and if you want to talk about cancer and deaths, let me direct you over to the cows milk. thats chok full of stuff to make you not onl gag, but also cause illnesses like no other.
you should deffinitly stay veg, there are so many benifits for being vegetarian. Source(s):
vegan i challenge the creditablity of the statement about soy giving you cancer, as in japan, they eat greater amounts of soy, yet they have a longer average life span than us in the States
personally, staying vegetarian is up to you, i'd stop in for a checkup just to make sure that you're getting ample nutrition once a while
i went a couple months vegetarian and only eating chicken and seafood so i could get my protein supply, i lost a pretty good amount of weight from not having as much fatty foods If you listen to the media, almost every damn thing we consume "could possibly increase your chance of getting cancer".
Its ridiculous. A vegetarian lifestyle can be just as healthy as a non-vegetarian one. The key to eating healthy is eating well-balanced, including protein, vegetables and fruits, grain and dairy. You can do that with or without eating meat. I wouldn't say that either option is healthier than the other. The reason a lot of vegetarians lose weight is because meat tends to be fatty. But if a non-vegetarian eats lean meat, they could be just as healthy. And, if a vegetarian eats soy and other proteins, they will be just as healthy. You will most certainly be struggling much harder to get the proper nutrients in your body.
The better question is do you honestly care about the animals? If you're asking on Yahoo Answers whether you should stay vegetarian or not, then you probably have a serious lack of faith in the vegetarian 'mission'. If you really want to help animals, go and fight your local landscaping / construction companies who are destroying their habitats and fight industries which produce enough waste to kill an entire forest of creatures. Those chickens, cows and pigs are getting slaughtered regardless. Is your health really worth pretending that what you ate for dinner can change the world? It's not healthy if you're only eating soy and pasta. At the same time, it's not going to get any healthier eating nothing but meat and pasta. You need a balanced diet. You have to eat a variety of fruits/vegetables, grains, nuts, beans, and seeds. you need at least chicken for protein. your body is very weak right now. just read your question about the mood swings.....This right here could be your answer. You are not getting enough protein or a balanced diet. Veggies are great for you, but at your age you need other things also plus vitamins to boost what you are loosing without the other food groups. You are young, your body is going through changes and will for some time to come and I am sure you are active and use a lot of energy. Think back to when the mood swings started and see if there is a connection. You do need to talk to a doctor before cutting things out of your diet at your age. If you are not wanting to eat red meat, tuna, eggs and beans do have a decent amount of protein, but you still need to find out how much you need to consume to stay healthy. Know you sources! I'm willing to bet most publications stating the cancer risks associated with soy have ties to some other "interests" that are against soy for some reason. The beef industry obviously has its reasons for being against tofu, but so do the milk and cheese industries. These are some major industries with lots of money, devoted to marketing, advertising and lobbying who don't want to lose customers.
To increase protein, switch to whole grain and whole wheat foods. Whole wheat pasta, bread, bagels... you name it. There's more protein available in these than there is in their bleached, white counterparts.
Beans are a great but if you don't like, them, perhaps try lentils. Lentil soup is common in stores, easy to prepare and tastes very similar to pea soup. Lentils also contain the next-most amount of protein next to soy beans.
Peanut butter as well as many other nuts are also a good source for protein.
People fear they will lack protein once they remove meat from their diets, but if you eat a good serving of theses types of food I mentioned, there's no reason you can't get the same as you would if you ate meat. Considering none of these have any cholesterol in them at all (unlike meats), you have your health factor as well! Meat contains second class protein that is full of chemicals. Go for the plant based protein. It is much better, and way more powerful. Where do you suppose animals obtain their protein. Meat protein is a $$$ maker for the Meat & Dairy Executives and the general population belive it, as it is plastered all over tv commercials... no a vegitarian diet will not give u cancer in fact it is better for ur body because the extra fiber gives a cleaner colon and digestive track however being a vegitarian doesnt mean limiting urself to soy. u shuld eat a lot of lentiles for protein and rice for carbs. they give u energy. also in the beinging i recommend to take multi vitamens and mineral coomplexes until u know how to balance ur diet. i've been vegetarian my whole life, i have been eating good diet and i'm healthy. i love eating soyfood, it's a good protein source.
being vegetarians are healthy, protect us against numerous diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and stroke.
check out this website for more info: http://goveg.com/healthconcerns.asp... It is healthy, to a certain extent. The veggies and stuff you're eating is obviously good for you :) however, you will be lacking in iron for example, so you need to supplement that with iron tablets, fish oil tablets etc ...
It is healthiest to have a balance of different foods... alot of breads, cereals, pasta, veggies and fruits. You should have 1-2 serves of meat a day if you're not a vegetarian/vegan.
I would say being a vegetarian is okay... but make sure you supplement and get your iron by having more foods such as nuts and legumes :)
Good luck and Happy interternational vegetarian week!!~~
I admire you for going veg =]
xx take care
