Vegan Jalapeno poppers?!

Question:

Vegan Jalapeno poppers?

I'm not looking for anything with soy cheese. Just something that's tasty and filling to stuff into jalapenos.

Answers: I am a former chef and am a part-time vegetarian because of my medical condition, I have stuffed them like regular peppers, sometime they get quite large.

I use orzo, rice, barley with vegetables, TVP and other grains or legumes, cook them in a sauce like your would meat filled peppers, you could do it with soya cheese on top for a nice treat.

I also use the poblano peppers, not as spicey but bigger and a bit more flavourful, even the cubeline or hot yellow peppers, it is the seeds and veins that make them hot, so trim them out and the zap is less. Tasty=non-vegan
vegan=NASTY taste I haven't attempted anything myself but I was thinking about it. I would try tofu. You could buy preflavored or flavor it yourself. It sort of has the consistency of "normal" poppers. Mash it up and stuff it into the pepper. Aside from that I would say any sort of vegetable puree would be good.
