What can I do to have more energy?!

Question:

What can I do to have more energy?

I used to have a lot of energy, but ever since I became a vegan, I felt sleepy all the time. I think I have the right nutrition, I do get protein by eating a lot of fake meat and soy products, and before I became vegan, I didn't eat healthily, I ate lots of junk food. I tried drinking caffeinated teas, but they didn't help at all. I also go to bed on time and get enough sleep, but still feel sleepy.

Answers: You're probably not getting enough iron, and that's very bad, especially for women. You could become anemic.

You need more fortified dry cereals with iron, green leafy vegetables, and other things. I'll post a link for vegan friendly iron sources. You also need to take supplements and vitamins.

You need to stop drinking caffinated drinks. Those are iron inhibitors mean they stop your body from absorbing iron. I'll post a link for those as well.

Good luck, and you ought to go to the doctor to make sure you are not anemic already. It's very dangerous. Source(s):

http://dietary-supplements.info.nih.gov/... try energy drinks or energy shots. also there are pills called "glucose" which is just like pure sugar....I think that should get you hyped up! well there you go, thats y. you eat fake meats. you need the real thing. Your body is having w/drawls from the real stuff. It needs those things and now that you have changed your diet its a shock. meat is healthy for you. so is milk and everything else. Soy products just dont have wat the real stuff does. its imitator. Caffeine has been proven bad for you, maybe tea isnt so bad but natural teas are better. eat some actual meat and animal products and you will notice a difference. A Vegan lifestyle would not be the reason for your lack of energy,as it is pure unadulterated nutrition.
You could possibly be pondering far too much on your changed eating habits, and looking for something that an uninitiated person may have put in your head.
Keep off the caffeine stuff, and drink other herbal teas, or if you want something with a bit of bulk in it, try a smoothie of some sort. e.g. banana, and heat it up.
You don't need to eat fake anything, as there are many Vegan recipes on the websites that will make you forget meat altogether.
You will need to keep up your vitamin B12, to replace the meat. Mushrooms are often called vegetarians meat.
For more energy, steam or boil veggies, rather than eating salads all the time, if that is what you may be doing, as salads tend to give you the runs, if you are overdoing them. this also occurs with fruit juice.
Anyway some of these little tit bits may assist you, however you state that you eat a lot of fake and soy. Make the lot, a bit less and incorporate some new finds. Sanitarium Health Foods, will send you recipes, if you e-mail them of your concerns with diet. Good Luck. Try eating nuts! Peanut butter is also good on a banana. Make sure your getting enough protein and other nutrients! Oh dear ... I know what the problem is. You are a vegan, but you don't take all the supplements you need to be a vegan.

Yes, the vegan diet is really, really healthy as long as you take sh*tloads of expensive supplements. As a rule of thumb, you should have an equal weight of supplements as the weight of the food you are eating.

Yessir, that vegan diet is GREAT! Eat some meat it is full of vitamins and minerals that will give you energy and nutrients that you need.
