Is microbiological rennet suitable for vegetarians?!


Question: I want to dive into feta cheese but it contains this ingredient and I am a vegetarian so is it ok to eat this? Sensible answers only please. Thanks

if it not an animal rennet, you can eat it. Try doing to a organic food store for a vegetarian style feta cheese.
if the feta you have says suitable for vegetarians on the packet and its not an animal rennet, you can eat it. Try looking for a vegetarian sign on the packet

Microbial rennet?
Microbial rennet should be vegetarian.

Edit:
I don't think that a company is required by law to list the type of rennet used in their cheese. So just to be on the safe side from now on (if you haven't already ate the feta) you should check out the website of the company that makes the cheese. They may have an FAQ that can answer this question for you, you can also always contact the company.
One more thing to beware of is when a company lists "enzymes" on their ingredient label.
Enzymes can be a mixture of vegetable, animal, or microbial enzymes.
Microbial rennet is from mold, and has nothing to do with an animal of any kind, so I would say go for it!
Yes, its is grown from a bacteria and not taken from a calves stomach as in real rennet. incidentally the bacteria is genetically modified but the manufactures don't have to declare this.

I have heard of a type of rennet that is made from bacterical cultures and does not use a cow's stomach. If they say "microbiological rennet" I would think they mean the bacterial culture. If you're still not sure, maybe there's a number where you can contact the company?
