I am a vegetarian..Does that mean i cant eat fish?!
Answers: it means you are a meat eater trying to pretend you are a vegetarian
to the best of my knowledge...no meat products whatsoever...that includes fish.
yes, fish is meat.
A vegetarian does not eat fish.
But if you choose to continue to eat fish but no other meat or slaughter by-products you would be a pescetarian officially.
It depends on why you're a vegetarian.. are you one because you don't like the thought of eating animals? [then you shouldn't eat fish] or do you not like to eat ANY animal products? [no eggs, milk, cheese, breads etc] or do you just not want to eat general meat for health reasons [red meat and pork] fish is good for you, and many of them do not experience the bad treatment chickens, cows and pigs receive. I was a vegetarian for a long time specifically because of the wrongful treatment of animals, the terrible hormones put in them etc. etc. you have to soul search and find your reasoning behind your becoming a vegetarian and then decide what is appropriate for your diet. Good luck!
NO NO NO! read the answers archives.. that's what they make it for.
fish is meat... vegetarians and vegans do not eat any meat or product from meat whatsoever.
NO NO NO! fish aren't treated well either.. all items made to be consumed are not created nor treated in the best of conditions.. even fruits and veggies.... seems silly but even the hard celled materials have it bad too... poor conditions.. mass production will create those situations.
fish=animal...if you are a veg you will not eat fish
if somthing has fish in it, you wont see suitable for vegetarians on the packet, so you can class it as a meat
You can eat fish, you just wouldn't be a vegetarian.
Right!.. if you want to be a True Vegetarian then you can't eat fish but if you eat fish just a little & mostly fruits, vegetables, seeds & grains then you're a Partisan Vegetarian (meaning you're a parttime vegetarian!) If you just want a fish-like taste.. try lightly cooking watermelon in some cooking oil add a wee bit salt or soya sauce & you'll have a fish like substance that isn't fish! You can add ground salisfy to it. I use that fake fish in many recipes that call for fish! Maybe cantelope might work instead of watermelon! have fun trying!
If you really want to hold the label of vegetarian, you cannot eat fish.
However, being a fullout vegetarian is not the only way to go. Being a pescatarian, meaning you eat fish but no other meat, is a very healthy lifestyle.
You CAN eat anything that you want,
But if you CHOOSE to eat meat then you are not a vegetarian.
BTW pescetarian is not the right word to describe a fish eating diet.
sounds to me like your question should be reversed: I am considering eating fish, am I a vegetarian? then turn it around and ask it to yourself. What do you really, really, really want to do? If you choose to eat the fish that makes you not a vegetarian, however it does not make you any less of a good or"cool" person. Eat what you like and be happy.
Eat fish and you're not vegetarian. Some people will disagree with me but I'm backed by any dictionary that exists.
Fish are animals too. Fish have been proven to have emotions and can feel pain.
You cannot eat fish if you want to be a vegetarian.
It varies from one to the next but my family members that are still eat fish and eggs. They just find it easier to get protein that way. Fish isn't brutally slaughtered, and the chicken doesn't die to give the egg.
fish is meat but it does have the proteins you need for your diet.
you would be considered a pescatarian. do not get vegatarian & pescatarian mixed up as you will confuse people and then they start on about your diet choices, etc. the usual blah blah.
i was a vegetarian for 5 years but I just cant say no to sushi. & my dad used take me fishing when i was younger.
Allie - so then why is it, if you do a search on pescatarian you come up with things like, "Pescetarianism is a dietary choice, in which a person — known as a pescetarian — will not eat the flesh of any animals other than types of seafood"???
