Is unfermented soy fit for human consumption?!

Question: my brother's at it again

Answers: my brother's at it again
no, it's not. soy contains Trypsin inhibitors which inhibit digestion. these are only eliminated by long fermentation processes such as making tofu. and too, soy contains estrogen compounds.
i've eaten boiled soybeans before

(reading up on it, i learned it's called edamame. here's the wiki)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edamame

and at least on another wiki page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soy_beans

there's a picture of a bag of toasted soybeans, suggesting another, non-fermented, soy food.

so yeah, its probably fine to eat nonfermented soybeans.
