Who is right?
Answers: I am a meat eater myself but I have people have told me they are vegitarians but eat chicken and fish.

This is why I try to stay away from saying "meat."
What is "meat" really doesn't matter.
Vegetarians don't eat animals.
...no matter what fancy term they try to give selective-animal eating.
:)
Besides, even the dictionary agrees with a real vegetarian's definition of "meat."
AND the word "vegetarian" has been around for over 150 years, and at no point has it included the eating of animals... except for when some ignorant kid tries to add it to wikipedia or the Yahoo "about" website.
This is why it is best to stick with actual sources created by credible people.
:)
meat is anything that was born of something with blood in the body.
a dead animal IS meat.
fish sure is fish. but fish is meat.
poultry is just another way of saying bird. birds are meat.
beef is another way of saying cow etc, etc,.
its all meat. the only region that can be iffy is with eggs. theyre chicken embryo developing... and theyre really high in protein.. but a lot of ppl say they arent meat.
ocourse vegans wont eat eggs.
^^ i know the kinda vegetarians youre talking about. the less hardcore ones. theyre the "i eat no meat! ...except for chicken"
=D
vegans are the hardcore crazy ones. no animal products.
Fish and chicken are meat
eggs on sale are not embryonic!
they are ejected by a hen periodically to prevent it being eggbound, just as human females produce eggs when menstruating.
birds eggs only become embryonic if the hen is serviced by a cockbird.
There are different terms of Vegetarian. Did you know?
There's Lacto-Ovo vegetarians (of which I am) who only eat eggs and dairy (my eggs come from my hens, who upon getting too old to lay, die happy retirees. My milk comes from my best friends God father who has dairy cows and uses NO hormones or antibiotics).
Then there's Pesca Vegetarians that eat only fish.
Then there's the "healthy eater" who eats all meat products except red meat and/or pork.
Vegan is the example of one who eliminates all animal products in their food and in their clothing and such.
Simplify it..........
ANIMAL, VEGETABLE or MINERAL!
The term meat came from the Old English language meaning food. At the time all food was refered to as meat. Animal flesh was far too expensive and considered a delicacy and the majority of people could not afford it and many never tasted flesh their whole lives. Up until about 150 years ago flesh was almost strictly eaten by nobles and as the costs became more affordable people based their social status on what they ate and meat slowly became the word commonly used for flesh. So basically those who say man has always eaten animal is wrong. As far as classification I believe all animal flesh is meat and should not be eaten by anyone claiming to be a vegetarian however the catholic religion seems to exclude fish from he classification of meat.
It doesn't matter if it's meat.
Vegetarians do not eat animals(cows, ants, chicken, shrimp).
Real vegetarians don't eat animals. Some people call themselves vegetarian and eat animals. I can keep on and on correcting them but there always seems to be more people who do that.
You're right, dead animal = meat. Chicken and fish are indeed animals.
my mom (a vegetarian) says "if it had a face, im not eating it" ... thats my definition of meat. this includes fish, poultry. even things like shrimp and clams
