You dont need products my friend, theres plenty of whole food options that you can make into anything you want!
Chic peas, lentils and beans are great, same with mushrooms.
I dont mind the odd veggie burger but im not keen on the wierd meat replacement stuff, its often made out of weird stuff :/
Nuts and seeds are great too : )
Mushrooms
Bocca burgers are good, chick peas, hummus, peanut butter, nuts, soy beans, tofu, seeds, dairy, whey protein, beans, buckwheat, fish, ect...
Best bet: check out "Diet for a Small Planet" Frances Moore Lappe and "Recipes for a Small Planet" by Ellen Ewald.
They talk about protein combining, such as beans, corn and dairy or peanuts and sunflower seeds, etc. Protein combining takes two or more foods which are only "ok" as a lone source of protein, but turn into a powerhouse when eaten together.
Works great!
Morningstar Farms has good choices. Soy products have come along way since the early days. There's regular tofu, of course, but now there are different marinated ones. Then there is seitan and tempeh.... (my favorites) both of these are good in just about any meat dish there is. There is veggie sandwich meat...... and soy crumbles for sloppy joes or chili etc. I don't really care for any of the veggie hot dogs I've tried. A natural foods store will have a larger selection of products and the employees eat it too so they can give you their opinion and help you choose what you may like. Good luck.
Yes Bocca Burgers are great...
Tofu is the best choice. It has calcium, B 12, fiber, and is loaded with protien. It is wonderful you.
Gardenburgers are good...the grillers kind is the best...but you should only eat them as much as you eat fast food...or as you should eat it...I don't know you.
They are better than meat but those products are still not as good for you as you think.
Gardenburger (www.gardenburger.com) and Amy's (www.amys.com) make some pretty good veggie burgers, among other things.
Lightlife (www.lightlife.com), Yves (www.yvesveggie.com), and Tofurkey (www.tofurkey.com) all have multiple types of analogues, including sausages, deli slices, crumbles, veggie strips, and more.
There's a German company called Viana that makes wonderful analogues from veggie "chickin fillets" to nuggets to "Cowgirl Veggie Steak." You can get them at www.veganessentials.com or www.veganstore.com.
Both online stores also have several other analogue options. Good luck.
ok, to start this off Gardenburgers are GROSS! but the fake maet i LOVE are by Morningstar! they have AMAZING fake meat that even my meat-eating boyfriend likes. they have breakfast patties in place of sausage and breakfast links also, they're SO good. and if you can find "Loma Linda" product they're SO good! it's an Adventist run health food thing. the food is great and real meat just doesn't measure up. :p
Boca Vegan Burgers are really good.
hi, im vegetarian and i eat alot of quorn its really great visit their site - http://www.quorn.co.uk/CMSPage.aspx
quorn - Mycoprotein is a fungus which contains high quality protein, an alternative purely vegetarian source of protein to meat
Tofu - A low-calorie, high-protein, cholesterol-free food made from curdled soy milk. It is creamy white with a sliceable firmness that varies from soft to firm. Tofu should be kept refrigerated: the water it is packed in should be changed daily.
VegeMince - Another popular mince-style ingredient is Realeat VegeMince, made from a combination of rehdyrated wheat and soya protein.VegeMince takes up its own weight of water or stock when cooked and has a surprisingly meaty taste and texture. Another good source of protein, it’s also suitable for vegans.
