I have been a vegetarian for 15 years & now I'm giving up dairy?!

Question: at least temporarily. I'm breastfeeding my baby & trying to see if he is not tolerating the cow's milk protein in my milk. Does anyone have any good recipes? (I don't eat tofu)

good luck! i was veg for 27 years and just went vegan a few months ago. Peta (www.peta.com) has some great vegan recipes and there are some super cook books in the library. you may also want to buy: the idiots guide to living vegan as its very helpful and has recipes.
Well, you can use soy milk, rice milk, or nut milk.

There are vegan cheeses (Follow Your Heart, for example) as well, but they don't melt as well as dairy cheeses.

Check out www.vegweb.com for vegan recipes.

BTW, why don't you eat tofu?
If you like good quality food that has some work involved, try Nava Atlas's books or her website, vegetariankitchen.com. Her recipes are wonderful, most have vegan options, and her food is accessible to both vegetarians and non-vegetarians, if you happen to be feeding any. Best of luck to you.
www.vegweb.com has a great selection of vegan recipes. I highly suggest it.

Awesome job giving up dairy! even if it's temporary.
Just make sure you get plenty of "B" vitamins.
The baby may be lactose intolerant, not allergic to your milk or the cow's milk you drink. Pick up an issue of Vegetarian Times or use soy, almond or rice milk.
This website has alot of good vegan recipes. It has a place where you can ask a dietitian questions too...among many other neat helpful tools.
