Halloween candy?!
Answers: I wanted to buy some vegan Halloween candy for the trick or treaters this year, but none of the bags in my Meijer (grocery store) contain any of the vegan brands. Any ideas as to where else I might be able to find individual wrapped vegan candy? I was hoping to find Sour Patch Kids or Airheads in particular.
Where I live, the pharmacies here carry a selection of Halloween candy and I can find some vegan stuff (Sour Peaches, Air Heads, etc). Also, a health food store might sell some mini dark chocolates but those are pricey and I doubt much kids like dark chocolate.
Fruit snacks are your best bet if you are looking for a healthy alternative to candy for Halloween. Kids love them and they are good for you!!!! I do know that Wal-mart has some of the airheads and sour patch kids in the bags of candy as well. Good Luck and Happy Halloween!!!
try bj's warehouse if you have one around they should have what you are looking for.
You have enough time to order candy over the internet and have it shipped to you. Go to BJ's online or google a vegan food store.
There is a website sponsored by PETA called "I Can't Believe It's Vegan!" It has quite an extensive list of snack foods that are 100% vegan.
There website is : http://www.peta.org/accidentallyVegan/Ve...
I hope that this helps you.. as I live in a small town, as well, and was happy to find that many of these snacks are quite commonly found on the shelves of my local Wal-Mart.
I find it hard to believe that your store doesn't have any vegan candy. Is it a grocery store or a health food store? Someone else suggested drug stores (pharmacies), which is a good idea. Check out Walgreens (or whatever your local store is). Along with Sour Patch Kids and Airheads, the following are also vegan (I know you said you knew what the candies were, but here's a list any way...maybe someone else will find something useful):
Twizzlers/Red Vines
Hubba Bubba bubble gum
Blow Pops
Dum Dums
Jolly Ranchers (not the fruit chews)
Smarties (not the Canadian ones)
Swedish Fish (a favorite at our house!)
I found a site that said Pez if vegan, but the last time I bought it I saw gelatin on the ingredients list. Maybe it's only certain kinds.
If you're still having trouble finding candy and you don't mind going expensive you could try buying granola bars (Nature Valley ones are great...only the yogurt ones and Oats and Honey ones are not vegan) or something like Gushers fruit snacks. And if that fails, you could even go out and buy Halloween pencils to dole out (every kids' favorite!....note: even vegans can get their houses egged, haha).
How the heck is candy anything carnivore like?
Goldenberg's Peanut Chews are also vegan.
Most natural foods stores and Whole Foods don't seem to carry bags of candy to give out on Halloween, unfortunately. If you buy hard candy online, you don't have to worry about it melting.
I think Laffy Taffy is vegan, that's what we eat.
What about Jolly ranchers and hard candy?
