I think you mean you want to be an animal rights activist or advocate. I am an animal rights advocate. I am also a vegetarian, for over 10 years. They use a stun gun to shoot a nail into the animals brain to kill them. It's supposed to be instant but because of faulty equipment and workers who are not trained properly, many if not all cows go down the production line still conscious and able to feel their body being ripped apart. This is the truth. They are dismembered alive - and it is because of things like this that I became a vegetarian.

Start digging your garden!

Your teacher may have just been trying to scare you. The cow goes through a convater belt and is hit over the head with a large...I think it's a mallet, but it's supposed to hit them just right to kill them painlessly. I think it's gross, too. But why hide the truth?

Step One: Learn to spell vegetarian.

Step Two: Get your facts straight. They do not shoot cows. You shoot anilmals that you are hunting, animals that are very sick, and animals that are causing (or threatening to cause) harm. Cows are farm raised and are generally quite gentle. Unless the cow were sick or was trying to harm someone or run away, then the cows would not be shot.

Cows can be killed very easily without the use of a gun. Using a gun would A.) scare the other cows, B.) risk damaging the meat and the leather, and C.) be a waste of bullets.

your teacher is probably right...but thats the way of the world & nothing you can do or say will change it...its big business.

i am a vegetarian in my own right....but i cook meat for my hubby & children....and i would NEVER presume to tell others not to eat meat. do what you have to do for your reasons....but try not to boss other people about honey!!

ehhh... meat is yummy.

If you really care about animals, go vegan. the animals used for dairy, eggs, and toxicity tests also suffer horribly.

Vegans don’t wear leather, fur, or wool, buy products from companies that conduct non-required animal toxicity tests:

Or frequent zoos, rodeos, circuses, or other places where animals are held in captivity or forced to perform.

Congratulations on your decision!
