Did I break my vegetarianism?!
Answers: I went vegetarian on monday, I have been doing really wel since, exect today i think i broke my cycle, in my culinary class at school , were we totry appetizers our class mates had made, and i had tried a pig in a blanket, and half of a small meatball. By eating these did i break my vegetarian diet so much?
well if you have been a meat-eater for some time you just have to get use to it. if i was a meat-eater before i was a vegetarian i would think hay i can give my self a break i just started. it's OK that you did that just try not to do it again one time wont effect anything.
you're lame! what do you think?
Vegetarianism is a life style, not a FAD!
no you didn't! you'll go to vege hell for that
You ate meat. Enough said. You already know the answer to your question. I would think the teacher should listen to your plea that you are a vegetarian and as such should not be forced to eat meat.
yep its meat...by the way if your doing it to be healthy meat is good for you, if your doing it because you love animals, or you dont like eating meat then you deff broke it.
well, you did a little bit, but dont be too hard on yourself. its like trying to quit smoking... its really hard to immediately stop eating all meat. you already went 48 hours without even any meat at all, and you only had a little bit. you'll be fine. just continue working hard to keep away from meat, and you'll notice that it gets easier the longer you do it.
I have been vegetarian for 9 years. Sometimes I feel tempted but I know eating an innocent creature is wrong. When I first started out it was hard but things became easier as time went on. So give it time and when you are thinking of eating meat just think of all the poor animals, go on peta.com, watch the videos. Being vegetarian can also be considered charity because you are saving a hundred lives a year.
You are at the beginning. Ok, you ate meat. So you did before Monday, not a hell of a lot of time before, I understand. Just take it easily if you want to become vegetarian. And remember, you can change your mind about it, no one forces you to be if you just can't.
I don't think your lame or anything and I don't have an insult to give to you, but yes you kind of broke you vegetarianism alot by eating PIG IN A BLANKET! But if you had just eaten the half a meatball and nothing else you would've been okay!
I have heard of this predicament before. I am not sure if you are in a culinary school or a home-ec class, but I know teachers of cooking make students eat the food.
If you are in home-ec, you may be able to get out of this -practice because it goes against your beliefs... especially if you have parental support to talk to the school with you.
If you are in a culinary school to become a chef, I know that you have no choice but to eat what is prepared for as long as you are going for the degree.
Unfortunately, if you are going to pursue cooking as a career, you may have to settle for knowing that you practice a vegetarian diet when at home, but you are not a vegetarian. Vegetarians do not knowingly eat animals at any time.
But having a vegetarian diet at home is still a good thing, so don't give up.
Good luck with your cooking classes and deciding what you want to do.
:)
Vegetarians do not eat meat. You ate meat. So no, your diet is not vegetarian. Being vegetarian requires commitment. What are your reasons for going veggie? Are you committed to them? If you aren't, this dietary choice isn't for you. If you are, keep these reasons in mind when you are tempted to eat meat. Remember what is important to you!
Yes you did, but you can start over again. You made a mistake but don't give up.
I've been reading a few comments on here that are frankly pathetic.. I'm a vegetarian, meaning I choose not to eat meat or fish but I am planning to start eating fish again soon because (shock horror), I WANT to and its MY body and life.
Being "vegetarian" is not a club with rules and restrictions for you to stay a member. If you feel bad eating something for moral, health or any other reason then don't eat it but if you want to then it's your choice.
In short, do whatever feels right to you and who cares whether someone else labels you a veggie or not!
There are no veggie police. Just do your best.
This is a stupid question. Of COURSE you did! You ate MEAT! If you really cared you would've just told the teacher you don't eat meat and you would've not eaten it.They can't MAKE you eat meat at school and you can't have your grade lowered over it.
well since i highly doubt you are vegetarian in the first place... no.
Yeah, but no big deal. You just scrape your shoe and move on. Vegetarianism is a weening process for most people. don't give up.
Your body is telling you that it wants meat. Nothing wrong with meat, that is why it is there. So long as animals are not killed by inhumane methods, or hunted solely as trophy animals, nothing wrong with eating a balanced diet that includes meat.
YES YOU DID. gosh you know that meat that you ate was once a living animal. Be careful my friend did that and after they ate it ( there a vegan) they got a phone call saying your going to die in seven days. but they didn't they just got food poison from the bad meat. And seven years later he died.
The short answer: Yes. The long answer: Yes, but that's ok. It's hard to quit "cold turkey" (haha, veg humor.) However, you should talk with your Culinary teacher in school and let her know that you are becoming a vegetarian (she is not allowed to force you to eat it if you are a vegetarian). This way, since your teacher knows it will be easier to stick to your diet. If you crave meat, visualize the animal that the meat came from, packed in a tight cage and gettings its neck slit while still concious. Chickens are often dumped in scalding water to boil off their feathers and feel every minute of it. Then imagine that same chicken, relaxing on a farm with its family. Remember that these animals are our equals and that even though it may be tempting, you can change your ways and stick with the diet.
Yes, you did break the definition of a vegetarian diet, but that's OK at the beginning. You need some time to acclimate to not eating meat, so at the beginning it is typical for one to become vegetarian in steps, eliminating one category of meat at a time. Eventually, though, you should no longer slip and the pig in a blanket and half of a small meatball are off limits if you are truly devoted to your new diet.
You didn't HAVE to do anything. Start again and try to have some focus this time.
yeah, but I had a hard time at the beginning too, so don't worry about it. Next time you're put in a situation like that just tell the teacher that you're a vegetarian and you can't eat it. They have to respect your choice.
maybe, you need to be on a vegetarianism diet to be able to break it
