I heard that eating alot of carrots can kill you?!

Question: Has anybody else heard this, and what is the evidence and logic behind this.

Answers: Has anybody else heard this, and what is the evidence and logic behind this.

No. Any excess beta carotene is stored as carotene in subcutaneous fat. It won't be converted to vitamin A unless needed. This is unlike consuming vitamin A itself (animal food and supplements) where too much of these sources is toxic.

Incidentally, yet another adaptation that proves humans are well adapted to a a vegetarian diet. Obligate carnivores like cats cannot make vitamin A from beta carotene.

Yikes, where did you hear that?

who ever told u is fuck1n9 tripping...... that is impossible
don't let people see ur face
{ohh come on u know better than that}

Eating a lot of anything isn't good for you because your body needs alot of different chemicals and vitamins in order to function properly.

False!!! However, eating way too many carrots can turn your skin an orangish color.. but, not kill you. They're good for eyesight.

i think that strange that killss you... i think it just makes you feel sick but it doesnt kill you....!!

Really because i heard meat kills you lol

Yes, I heard the same thing years ago in a statement made by a physician and consumer advocate on TV who was making a point about how research is done, however I can't remember his name, although it may have been Dr. Dean Edell. In context , what he said was this
" everyone who eats carrots will die" ( which is true) and that a study showing those results could be interpreted as proving the carrots to be deadly. his point: research can prove whatever it is your setting out to prove if done correctly...

I don't think that's possible unless someone is allergic to carrots.

However, carrots are high in vitamin A, which is a fat soluable vitamin. Fat soluable vitamins are potentially toxic. But I'm sure most people's bodies would stop absorbing the vitamin A from carrots before it reached a toxic level. It's more likely that someone would get a toxic level of vitamin A from synthetically processed vitamin supplements or injections.

I suppose some people might have metabolic disorders where they could absorb an unusually high amount of vitamin A, but I've never actually heard of it.

If you eat a lot you can get too much beta carotene and your skin can turn orange. I think if you eat too much of anything your body can become toxic and can lead to health problems.

Eating too much Vitamin A can be really bad for you (I know one of the symptoms is hair loss, but I forgot the rest.), and carrots contain a lot of it. I don't know if it can kill you. However, you'd have to eat a whole lot of carrots every day for your body to get too much Vitamin A. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

anything in excess is not good for you. Too many carrots can turn your skin orange. a balanced diet is key, moderation. But there is nothing toxic in carrots and hey, rabbits love 'em!

Eating enough of just about anything will kill you. You can even die by drinking too much water.

Drinking too much water can kill you.... OMG

eating or drinking enough of most things can kill you.

however, the amount you would have to consume is ridiculous.

moderation is the key to a healthy well balanced diet.

how old are you? where do you keep your brain? make use
of it properly...................... and it will make you much brighter.

Eating a lot of anything can cause digestive problems, your body to get sick and then... you know...
