Im a vegan but i use fish sauce.?!
Answers: I consider myself a lactovegan. I don't eat meat, fish, and eggs, but i eat dairy products.I use fish sauce in cooking and in eating, would i still consider myself a lactovegan?
there is no such thing as a lactovegan...its lacto vegetarian. and by definition any vegetarian (lacto, ovo, ovo-lacto) does not eat meat products including fish. so you wouldn't even be considered a vegetarian.
this is technically speaking though. if you want to use fish sauce go ahead, but if you preach about animal rights then you are pretty much contradicting yourself. if you are a vegetarian for other reasons (health, religion, etc) then i don't think its a big deal if you use fish sauce.
that would probably contradict your lactovegan style. But you know what? It is your body and you can do whatever you want. If you don't eat the meat because you don't want to harm animals, then you probably shouldn't use fish sauce then as well. Personally I love meat. But if what you do feels right keep on doing it.
well i cant really say whether you would still consider yourself lactovegan....however i consider not.
so now i dub thee pescarian!!
fish+ blender+strainer= fish sauce
I don't think anyone is patrolling your kitchen to catch you cheating a little bit. You can certainly call yourself anything that you feel is relevant. You might be able to find a substitute for fish sauce if you ask around at Asian markets and restaurants, if you are concerned. If not, I don't think it is a damning offense to your vegan-ism.
i would consider you someone who does not eat meat, fish or eggs. so you could be a vegetarian, but certainly not a vegan, other wise i am a vegan but i still eat dairy and eggs.
There is NO SUCH THING as a lacto-vegan. Vegans do not eat, wear or use ANY products of animal origin whatsoever. Vegetarians may be lacto- (eating dairy) or ovo- (eating eggs) or both, but veganism by it's very definition does not allow these exceptions. And NO vegetarian of any stripe uses fish sauce. It comes from dead animals and vegetarians do not eat dead animals. You are an omnivore just like most of the rest of the world.
- Fish sauce contains fish
- Fish are vertebrate animals that live in water
- Vegetarians do not eat animals
So no, not really
There are 3 main types of vegetarian:
* Lacto-ovo: Eats both eggs and dairy products
* Lacto: Includes dairy products but no eggs
* Vegan: Consumes no animal products whatsoever.
You're what some people might call a demi-vegetarian: fish but no meat. There's nothing really wrong with that if that's your preference - you're just not technically a vegetarian.
Lactovegan is an oxymoron (a word that contradicts itself). Now a pescolactovegan--that is a major oxymoron.
No, you would not be a vegan or a vegetarian.

Fish sauce is salty liquid fish. So...you're not a vegan. You're not even a vegetarian. Look it up in the dictionary. A good sub for fish sauce is one part soy sauce mixed with one part water. It tastes about the same in any recipe. If you're still morally ok with eating fish sauce then go ahead, all I'm saying is that technically if you do, you're not a vegan.
Sorry but there is no such thing as a lactovegan. Vegans do not use any animal products.
A pescetarian does not eat any meat other than fish. That is what you would be considered.
As other have said it is your choice.
Lacto-vegan??? No such thing. You eat a sauce with fish in it so you aren't even a vegetarian.
Lacto-vegan--LOL---I'm a Meato-vegan then!!
personally I wouldnt use it and dont like the taste anyway. Its a personal choice. Is there a dead fish in it or is it just fish flavour?
Hmmmm, this is a bit confusing. There is no such thing as a lactovegan. Perhaps you meant lacto-vegetarian?
Also, there is no such thing as a fish eating vegetarian.
A vegetarian is a person who does not eat animals.
A vegan is a person who does not eat or use anything that came from or was tested on animals.
I would say to drop the fish sauce (dead fish) and find a vegetarian substitute. Then you would be a lacto-vegetarian, a person who does not eat animals, but does consume dairy.
:)
No
Your not a vegetarian or a vegan.
lol "lactovegan"!?
sorry to break it to you but obviously you don't know what vegan means, perhaps you should do a research.
you're not a vegan!
OMG did someone just make up the term "lactovegan?"
Talk about an oxymoron.
If you are eating dairy and fish sauce you are not only NOT a vegan, but yu are NOT a vegetarian.
It all seems pretty simple to me. I don't know why so many people keep getting confused about these definitions.
You are an immoral vegan. You are a shame to all vegans. Lay off of the Fish Sauce and get your head back on your shoulders. It doesn't matter if you like you food, we sre in this for the animals. People do not need to like food, that is a myth and misconception.
It was a only a matter of time folks....
I knew people would come up with being ______(insert any word i.e. leathero, furo, honeyo, bone charo)vegans
To answer your question: You are not a vegetarian or vegan. If you eat fish, that is meat and veg*ns do not eat meat.
No. Fish sauce is not vegetarian. I'd suggest buying a vegetarian version. They do exist.
yes lacto vegans can still eat honey dairy products and fish
