What are the risk of eating meat versus being a vegetarian?!

Question: Well, here's the Greek Animal Welfare volunteers (last answerers).
Well, I am vegetarian because I love animals and I believe in the value of every kind and form of life.
I also believe that we are vegetarians by nature, otherwise nature would have provided us with different body equipment like sharp teeth, different intestines, etc.
And being vegetarian I'm healthier (and I look much younger also).

in terms of contracting diseases, animals can be carriers of diseases and bacteria like e-coli. less risk with vegetables but people get sick from e-coli just as easily, and anthrax is originally found in dirt. just have to cook it all really well.

You don't need meat to live. There are many subs out there. The majority of my friends have no problems. There are many ways to get protein.

Theres a high risk that in the food you will eat is NOT vegetarian although there are lots of vegetarian food that offer protein e.g quorn, here are some examples of foods that theres a high risk of there being meat products in them :

cheese - curdled in calf's stomach (rennet) - there can be vegetarian rennet's

sweets - sweets like haribo and others have gelatin

milkshakes - in some milkshakes they use carmine in strawberry flavor,,, frijj and lots of others do not use carmine

if your turning vegetarian or are a vegetarian try some of these sites their great:

cholesteral

According to the American Cancer Society, "Population studies have linked vegetarian diets with a decreased risk of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and colon cancer."

As long as you're eating a varied and healthful vegetarian diet, there really is no risk involved.

Meat, on the other hand, contains cholesterol and saturated fat -- two things that increase your risk of heart disease and obesity. (And, of course, obesity then can contribute to many other diseases.)

high cholesterol, high fat
high blood pressure, clogged arteries.
higher risk of cancer

Also many of the animals sold for meat are diseased because of the food they are fed (cows are fed ground up cattle instead of the grass they are meant to eat)

The animals are pumped full of steroids and hormones and antibiotics that are not good for us.

Risks of eating meat
Heart disease, cholesterol + saturated fat in meat, I would imagine this would be caused due to eating large amounts of meat.

Risks for vegetarians
Not taking enough care with your diet and missing out on essential nutrients, however this isn't limited to a vegetarian lifestyle, even meat eaters can experience this as well.

I'm a vegetarian for as long as I remember myself. I only have cheese for proteins. And I'm not an exception as traditional mediterranean cuisine contained always an unimportant consumption of meat. People in the past used to combine for example pasta with beans or rice with lentils (traditional Greek and Italian dishes) which results a high quality protein conjunction. People were healthier and stronger, even if working harder.
Being a vegetarian did not deprime me of being an athlete (martial arts), a dancer, and a proffesional who daily exceeds 12-14 hours of work.
I also enjoy a high level of health although I smoke and have a couple of drinks to keep stress away.
So, off with the myths about the needs of humans for meat, we are just all other apes: vegetarian by nature.....

No risks being a vegetarian. As Dellarovere said people in the past used to have meat only in special occasions, like Christmas, Easter, and a couple of other celebrations, and did not suffer so frequently of cancer, heart deseases, etc.
I have limited meat to essential portions and I tend to be a vegetarian too.
