Why do Chinese people eat a lot of rice?
Why do Russians drink vodka?
Why do we eat a lot of burgers, potatoes, pizza...

You could ask this about any food, really. As for pasta specifically, it's cheap, it's not horribly unhealthy - it's enriched, and you can get it with whole wheat for more fibre - you can mix it with pretty much any other food, top it simply or dress it up into a fancy dish for your relatives.

It's cheap, it's versatile, and pretty much everyone likes it. That's enough reason to eat pasta, isn't it?

Because it is inexpensive and easy to fix and can be fixed in a lot of different ways.

The easy answer is most Americans grew up eating pasta one way or another. I think Mac and Cheese is the number one thing to eat for many kids.

Other countries have "delicacies " that would make us run screaming. Maybe some of our favorite foods would make them run too.

It's true. U.S citizens do eat a lot of pasta. As in 'pass da fries', 'pass da burgers', 'pass da relish',.....Lol!

I'm going to give you a much simpler answer. I know the U.S. eats pasta but not as much as other parts of the world. That's just my opinion. In a smaller version.

Starches are the bodies main source of getting energy....not meat. Belive it or not..it's true. Maybe that's why you crave it? IDK? That's why I do.

I love pasta...and eat a lot of it......umm..yeah, I from the US. I thought we tended to eat alot of meat and potatoes...not pasta to be honest.

Most grew up eating pasta, as well as other complex carbohydrates. It has become an addiction in this country and is a main contributor to weight gain and weight related illnesses.

Well... USA is a 'sallad bowl' of nations. Pasta originates from Italy, maybe this is how they got there and many people enjoy pasta.

the whole nation eats a lot PERIOD. that's why there is high obesity rates and health problems. not just pasta, don't forget the obvious which is fast food such as Burger King, MCD's, Dunkin Donuts, etc. I never eat fast food but it's pretty clear that no one has time to really cook anymore, pasta is fast and easy to make that's why people eat a lot of pasta.

Because we are the fat nation. All the fatties live here. haven't you been watching the news? We are getting so fat as a nation that the axis of the world is changing because our crowded fatness is starting to make it spin off balance.
