Ever since the e-coli scare in spinach early this year, are you buying it now?!
Answers: We buy only local farm grown spinach. After the season is over it is over for buying until next year.
Yes, I buy it. I used to not wash it though just because it said "washed and ready to eat". Well, that was dumb and now I wash any produce very thoroughly, ESPCIALLY bagged salads. I try to buy fresh and local when I can, but no one ever has spinach!
People picking our produce need to use the BATHROOM and not cop a squat in the fields and we won't have as many e coli scares. Well, veggie people won't have as many e coli scares. Those meat eaters REALLY are brave to keep eating meat with all the nasty contaminated meat being put out for consumption these days.
Almost certainly those people who got sick were ones who ate that bag spinach raw, in a salad. I only eat spinach that has been steam cooked, which kills any bacteria that happens to be present.
I continued buying it then and continue to buy it now.
Life is too short to worry about this stuff.
What doesn't kill you , makes you strong...And there are so many products that "Could" have, E-coli, Or Botulism, or just cause food poisoning

I don't buy spinach for home use, but it has nothing to do with that. I have collard greens growing in my back yard almost all year round.

The e-coli scare has nothing to do with spinach. It has its origins in fecal matter (animal or human) and anything that comes in contact with it is a potential source of infection. Leafy greens are a higher-risk product because they grow close to the ground (=manure) and are inadequately washed or cooked (sometimes not cooked at all).
I hate raw spinach anyway. I always cook it.
Yes, that recall was limited to spinach from a single source. I grew my own spinach this summer, but I'm back to buying it from the store.
