Why do you think so many people dislike the vegan/vegetarian diet and lifestyle?!
2. Vegetarians are often perceived as preachy, self-righteous, obnoxious, etc. This is sometimes true. However, this leads some non-vegetarians to believe this is true for all vegetarians. It's a kind of prejudice. It would be better if the annoying people were confronted individually instead of automatically blaming the entire group.
Answers: 1. Because it's a different way of looking at things than what is accepted by the majority.

blaugh
It wouldn't work for me - I HATE fruits and veggies.
I wasn't aware that people did. I mean, people may poke fun, but I don't think they really dislike the likestyle.
They're addicted to meat, as am I. Don't get me wrong, I don't 'dislike' those diets, but I don't think I could last for long without wanting chicken or something.
We could care less - have at it if you want. I did it once and my dad said "you don't want to live forever do you?" and I said "hell no" and I had a wonderful steak!!! LOL. I'm 49 and have no problems cuz I ate meat. There isn't a prejudice against Vegetarians --- this is just silly. You enjoy eating your rabbit food and I'll enjoy a juicy steak -- how about that????? Bet I'm happier :)
It takes:
some planning
time
shopping
getting used to
but worth it
Why?
better for you
much cheaper
allows you to use the creative side of your brain
I don't like it I don't like how the food tastes. I don't like a meal without meat. I hate all the self righteous preachy stuff and putting down other people. I think many of those people who practice this diet take drugs and are irresponsible in many ways.
A lot of you are too preachy and self-righteous. Not all of you, just enough.
It's mainly the attitude of the vegan/vegetarian that people don't like.
They are always preachy, holier than thou, tree-hugging liberal communists.
Most people can't tolerate being around anyone like that any longer than necessary.
its not for everybody, my old man was a vegetarian for about 10 years. he just had to go back to having meat, the craving was too strong
I wasn't aware that people disliked it. But by nature, humans are carnivores. You need meat. But vegetarians can get their protein from other sources, but I mean really...is it that good? For a while I didn't eat red meat...but now I eat my steak more rare than my husband does.
If people really do dislike it, it's not the people on it. It's the people that have to think about menus for little house parties and such. It would be frustrating to have a little get together and have to prepare one meal for a vegetarian...especially if they are a strict vegetarian.
well my guess is that most if not all the vegetarians I have met are liberals and live very umm let us say ungodly lives it also makes it very hard to cook for them
It's the Veggier/holier-than-thou sorts that ruin it for the rest of us...if everyone was cool and laid back about it and more inclusive, there wouldn't be as much hostility. You have steak...I'll have the pasta primavera and it's all good. We are both happy with our food, no reason to pitch a fit.
And of course there those that hate everything that is non-traditional. Note that whole "liberal" and "ungodly" thing. Yeah I prefer tofu over chicken...the next thing you know I might vote for Clinton! Or Obama! *smacks forehead* And I'll do it while munching on granola...Watch out! I must be a liberal! Then you know what? I'm going hug a tree right afterwards...sheesh.
I have no problem with it all. What I dislike is when veggies and vegans give me a hard time about my decision to be a meat eater.
It's a personal choice.
im a vegetarian too!
they are wackkk
i thnk they might think were all just like hippy-ish, but not really, i mean before i became a vegiterean i looked at vegiterians and thought, wow i could never give up meat, what is the point of that, the animals already dead, but now that i am one, i feel good, i'm more energized, and just don't like the idea of an animal entering my body, i don't really care if others think it's odd, but i'm happy
Well, that's too bad for them because I chose to become a vegetarian at the age of 4 and I absolutely love it! I would never ever go back.
Many reasons depending on the person:
- Jealously that I have a healthier lifestyle than them.
- Ignorance that it is somehow abnormal or unhealthy not to eat meat
- Insecurity with themselves - they try to put my lifestyle down to make them feel better somehow about their unhealthy lifestyle and to try to get others to agree with them so they feel better.
I don't expect everyone to understand or agree with my vegan lifestyle but if they don't it is not their business to comment on it.
They do not dislike the vegan/vegetarian lifestyle, some people find it is not the right choice for them. Others hate it because they think people who follow this kind of lifestyle think they are more morally superior than them and don't want to get caught up in all that cr*p./
I can think of several reasons; bacon, steak, leg of lamb, pork chops, ham, turkey, roast duck with crispy skin, cheeseburgers, bacon...did I say bacon?
Because a lot of omnivores instantly get on the defense when they find out someone's vegetarian/vegan. They assume we're going to start preaching so they instantly start judging and making fun, which makes us defensive in response, then suddenly we're the "preachy" ones. *rolleyes* THEY think WE think we're superior.
I don't preach but it sure gets old having to defend my choices.
