i am a marmie lover
i used to work with some polish guys and we were making sandwiches, i suggested we labelled the food for everyone in Polish and English- we did the cheese and ham ones fine, i had made some marmite sandwiches and my friend didn't know what it was so he tried some and labelled the sandwiches.
when everyone else came home the polish guys wouldn't even try the marmite sandwiches, when i asked them why not they said- " they have a label on that says 'black stuff that tastes bad' we are not eating that!"

I think I'm the only person in the world who neither loves nor hates marmite. I like it, I mean it's ok but not my favourite thing on toast.

It works well to put a smigen in gravies for flavor.
It is high in B12, which is good for vegetarians

I've always got a jar of it in the larder. The people who tend not to like it or hate it are the ones who tried piling it on as though it were marmalade instead of barely scraping it onto their bread or toast. That's my opinion anyway, love it or hate it ! ! !
Love the stuff.Although i do remember my mother making me a marmite sandwich for school years ago. She had never tasted the stuff so she didn't appreciate the intensity of the flavor.
She must have put it on about an inch thick! Still it didn't put me off.
It should be banned.

I love it - but if you find you've put too much in a soup or gravy, a wee pinch of dried sage cancels the overtaste without losing it entirely!
