Shouldn't unshelled pistachios be an option?!
Answers: I know that the shells hold the flavor in and whatnot, but shouldn't I be given the option of unshelled pistachios? I can't find them in any store. Do they exist? Where are they? Online somewhere? Peanuts and other nuts manage to sell without a shell, so why not pistachios? I'm left with semi-sharp, semi-pointy shells that cause calluses and it takes an hour to eat a small bag. And if the shell isn't pre-split, it's a b!tch and a half to open them up. If I wanted to subdue my food, I'd be out in the jungle with a spear, not at my local grocery store.
I buy unshelled pistachios at Trader Joe's. Raw ones even (means they're even healthier). Check there and if they don't have them ask them to order them for you. They are a Trader Joe's brand. And the bag is HUGE!
I soak them for a while and then toss them with seasonings like chipotle and onion and garlic powder and then dehydrate them until they're crunchy (you could put them in a very low over for a long time until they get crunchy - same thing basically, just not as healthy unless you crack the oven door and don't let them get too hot). I looooove pistachios! I'm going to have a handful right now, in fact!
I buy shelled pistachios at Sam's club. Hope there is one near you.
I'm not sure if they exist, but it's definitley a good idea. it should be an option.
It's part of the enjoyement surely. i love them too and sometimes the shells annoy me but unshelled pistachios are just damn lazy!
ya that would be cool
i see these all of the time now! planters and emereld have them in cans and check street fairs for em also. check you produce section for them also!
Good things are worth fighting for.
You have some big problems.
You usually only get them in those tiny little cans but you might be able to find them in the section with all of the nuts in Walmart if you have one. Planters makes them now and another company as well.
Do you mean that you want shelled pistachios, as in no shells?
I know they sell them at Trader Joe's.
