Should we be vegetarians?!
Answers: this is my courcework for english.
For the coursework, they'll probably want you to argue both sides of the arguement, then reach your own personal conclusion.
Some people think that everyone should be vegetarians because it causes needless suffereing by slaughtering animals because humans can live without meat. Then, some people think that it's down to the person, as meat still contributes to a balanced diet, and if we weren't eating the animals, we wouldn't be raising at all, so they wouldn't even be alive to start with. Good luck!
i wouldnt advise any one to be a veggie, i am 18 an hav been 1 since i was 7. since i was 8 i hav had anemia an am on tablets every day. and now i hav a very short temper as i am always tired.
no !if so we will lack out of protein
OR
sure!why not?
your what work?
well, vegetarianism is a choice, if you have high morals and care about other living beings then the natural choice is to be vegetarian/vagan, but if you dont care then you should have no problem eating meat.
shelly_hd5 - i hope you realise that it is obvious when people talk bs on here, but if this really is the case, you should NEVER have taken talets for that long with no result and i advise you to see your doctor, and vegetarianism isnt linked to these symptons unless you are not getting enough carbohydrates, which is EXTREMELY unlikely! next time do reasearch!
Yes! What gives us the right to eat animals?? Just because they can't communicate with us does that mean that they don't feel pain like we do?? That they don't feel fear like we do?? How would humans feel if another species came to be on earth and started killing and feeding on humans?? What justifies peoples choice to murder just to eat??
Shelly says it all.
Never known a Vegan that wasn't a whack job & sick all the time. They deteriate mentally until they become what they eat.
I believe so for moral reasons. I feel terrible for talking a life of something that thinks and feels like me.
It's very important to learn about proper nutrition and to make sure you're getting all the nutrients you need every day, as it is easy to get deficient in iron, B vitamins, and protein. But once you learn about foods that are rich in them it is very east to avoid problems.
big question- here's a big answer...
I was vegan for many years, read ALL the books, etc etc etc. Operative word is WAS. I feel that it is a perceived moral superiority thing with a lot of veg people; they shove your nose in it like a dog in s**t, implying that you are doing something wrong. I know, because I was one of them. During all my time as a veg, I studied a TON of books and articles on veg nutrition, and believed it was our 'correct, natural diet'. Then I started getting sick. REALLY sick, meaning I almost died, and it was partially due to a deficiency of two important things- magnesium and carnitine. Everyone has heard about b-12 deficiency in veg diets, but nothing is written about the dangers of PHYTIC ACID, or PHYTATE, which is present in large amounts in SOY, unleavened breads, raw beans and grains, and many other things that a veg diet is based on. What phytate does is to inhibit the absorption of magnesium, calcium, and zinc, among other things. In non-ruminant animals (us), phytate is an ANTI-nutrient. So after years on a very heavy high-phytate diet, I developed an intracellular magnesium depletion which totally messed up my electrolytes. It doesn't show up on bloodtests, though, as your body will leach magnesium out of your cells and into your plasma to maintain your vital body functions. Until it reaches a critical stage, like when I went into the hospital after being sick for eight months, and nearly had a heart attack, and when they drew blood, I had half the amount of magnesium necessary to sustain life.
Carnitine, which I had never heard of before getting sick, is not present in a vegan diet, nor is Lysine or Methionine, which the body uses to produce Carnitine. Carnitine is necessary to transport fatty acids into your mitichondria for cellular energy production. So I had also depleted my Carnitine pool over time, and basically my cellular function was compromised, resulting in every system in my body shutting down. Sound fun?
I can recommend two books, to get this side of the story.
1. The Paleolithic Prescription- changed my mind on the whole thing
2.- the Naturopathic Diet- reinforced Paloelitic book
3. also checkout soyonlineservice, a great website about the dangers of soy.
This is far too involved to go into at greater length here, email me if you would like some more links. I know all the stuff about environmental impacts and every other angle, but I am sure I will get massively flamed for this anyway. Sorry, veg friends! I am a traitor! But I was open-minded enough, even after years of die-hard veg preaching, to objectively study the additional scientific information that I was presented with, and it changed my mind. Oh, and my health is better than ever.
This is a difficult Q to answer , becoz only vege means the person would become deficient in certain vitamins so there is a need to go for meat. But on Moral background , its only vege
Conclusion :"Have meat but once in a while.................."
no;if noone at animals then all of the animals would over populate and the earth would be forced to create something else to control the pet population ....... imagine the mutation of the planet if Mother Nature created an entire species of Bob Barker wandering the earth in heards with tamberines saying "help control the pet population, have your pet spade or neutered ";as mad cow disease runs rampid and everyone is starving because the price of corn is too expensive because there is not enough to ffed the people and the plants as tigers and kittens devour the children and pass staph infections through out the school .......... screw you ,I'm eating animals ......
There are some really stupid post here, but to answer your question, no we shouldn't be vegetarians.
Our bodies and minds were not built for it. We cannot live on JUST vegetables or JUST meat.
We. Are. Omnivores.
There is no such thing as "animal cruelty" when it comes to food. In fact it is one of two reason we should kill animals (the other being self defense). When vegetarians and vegans abhor meat and rant at everyone eating meat, they just open animals to other, useless, deaths.
As far as I'm concerned, vegetarians fall into the same category as people who dress their dogs. Confused people out of touch with the biosphere.
Don't misunderstand me, if you are already a vegetarian that's OK, but don't advertise it and rub everyones nose in it in order to change their opinion.
