Meat might not be the reason you're a fatty. Try laying off the junk food and soda.

You may just be lacking a balanced diet. I used to work at the YMCA where I had regular conversations with the staff dietitian. She said that your serving of lean protein should be no more than the size of a deck of cards per meal, nuts should be no more than a small handful a day, whole grain carbs should be 1/2 a cup or two slices at breakfast and lunch. Dinner should be balanced, just like the previous meals in the day but have least amount of carbs and should be eaten 2-3 hours before bedtime. The only things that are okay just before bed are water and unsweetened herbal tea. The only food that she said that you don't have to put a limit on is vegetables. Dark leafy greens are highly recommended and incorporating as many colors of the other veggies as possible everyday is also important.

A great way to give yourself freedom is to cook on the weekends and freeze the leftovers. This way you have go to meals whenever you like. This also helps to keep the level of fat, sugar, white refined carbs and processed foods out of your diet or at least to a minimum.

If this seems like a lot of information to handle alone, ask your doctor to refer you to a dietitian that is vegetarian friendly (if you decide to go that route). The YMCA or YWCA is also a good resource for finding a trainer and a dietitian.

Best of luck to you!
