Well, I am a vegetarian and I don't eat meat or fish. Anything breathing is off-limits for me. :) You can eat anything made by Boca or Morning Star but that is nowhere near all there is. Those are just 2 of my favorite brands. If you like ribs, the best vegetarian ribs I have found are Gardenburger BBQ Riblets (veggie riblets) These taste exactly like ribs. I just became a vegetarian last year. (I am 13) I thought becoming a vegetarian would be hard but I have found it extremely easy.
Be careful when looking for soups. Most of them are made with chicken stock. A good veg friendly soup is Progresso Light Italian-Style Vegetable (or any other veggie based Progresso.)
If you know where to look, there is a veggie substitute for any food. I personally like Cedar Lake Vegi-Scallops.
I hope this has helped you a bit. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions or want more suggestions! Good luck. :)

well, as you know, vegetarians cannot eat meat. you can eat foods such as veggies, fruit, dairy, basically everything except meat. a good place for protein is nuts, or specialty vitamins that have protien in them. good places to find vegetarian recipes is on the internet (google)!!!!
I just became a vegetarian a couple weeks ago and really vegetarians have a wide range of options. You can eat anything like you did before except for meat and if you are really into no meat whatsoever you cannot eat marshmellows or jello either and so kinds of macaroni and cheese because it has ground up hooves in it. Try beans and tofu. I find that I am lacking iron so you should also take supplements or eat dark leafy vegetables.
Vegetarians usually eat grains, eggs, dairy, beans, fruit and veg. Basically anything that isn't made from a dead animal.
The best veggie protein sources are:
- eggs
- tofu and other soybean products
- meat analogs (veggieburgers, veg 'meat'balls, veg sandwich meats)
- beans, lentils and chickpeas
- cheese
- milk
- nuts, nut milks and nut butters
- seitan (wheat protein)
Vegans eat nothing from animal sources - no wool, leather, silk, honey, meat, dairy, or eggs.
Their protein comes from:
- soy products (soymilk, veggie burgers, soybeans, tofu)
- nuts, nut milks and nut butters
- beans, lentils and chickpeas
- seitan
My favourite veg recipe sites are:

Vegetarians do not eat fish, generally, as fish is meat.
Vegetarians do not eat flesh or slaughter by-products (in other words, nothing an animal died for.) This includes the flesh of ALL animals, including chicken, fish, shrimp, lizards, ants, whatever. Slaughter by-products you'll want to look out for include gelatin (which is in a shocking number of products that seem to be vegetarian, like candy) and rennet (which is used to coagulate cheese - you can find ones made with vegetable rennet like Tillamook, as well as some that are labled rennetless.)
Other than that, a vegetarian can eat anything she likes. Good sources of protein in a vegetarian diet include soybeans and soy products (tofu, tempeh, tvp, edamame, meat analogs,) beans and other legumes (lentils, peas, peanuts, chickpeas,) nuts and seeds, whole grains (quinoa is a good one because it's also got lots of calcium and iron and is as versatile as rice,) fruits and veggies, mushrooms, eggs, and dairy products. If you're eating a balanced, varied diet and consuming enough calories, you will have absolutely no problem getting plenty of protein on a vegetarian diet.
All you have to do for recipes is google. Allrecipes has 100s of vegetarian recipes, for example.
Vegans do not eat, wear or use any products of animal origin. This means we eat like a vegetarian, but without eggs, dairy products and honey. We don't wear wool, silk, leather or fur and we look for toiletries and personal care products that are made with no animal ingredients and no animal testing.
Anything without meat (yes, fish & chicken are meat)/gelatin/lard/anything else the animal died for. Some vegetarians don't eat eggs or dairy. Some don't eat honey.
Vegans don't eat anything that came from an animal, meat, eggs, dairy, honey. They don't purchase things that have been tested on animals. They don't use wool, silk, lanolin, beeswax, leather, or any other animal part or product. Vegan is a lifestyle.
Vegetarian is a diet that sometimes extends farther (like leather & animal testing) unless it's just for health.
Ignore all the B12 talk. Vegetarians that eat eggs and dairy are getting more than enough B12. Vegans may want to supplement.
Contrary to popular belief, you may in fact consume animal crackers, if you are vegetarian, however, I have learnt, vegans may not. You may want to post the question about animal crackers your self, just for clarification.
Cheers
well im a veggie and we dont eat meat (in case u didnt no)
and if u get a good vegatarian recipe cook-book from a book shop or if u go on the internet.. choose carefully on wot u pick because some of the recipes can be a bit digusting even though they look nice on the internet
OK well you can't eat anything made from meat... flesh of animals.. you can eat eggs and dairy products if you choose to. Eggs, nuts, and some veggies ( such as beans) and good source of protein. You really don't miss out on a lot when you are a vegetarian because there are so many substitutes. If you want a burger you can eat a veggie burger ( you can't really say you don't like the because there are different kinds, or a mushroom burger. They serve them and some restaurants and if you want to eat fast food go to burger king instead of MC Donald's.... the have meat in their fries. hope this helps
one thing people don't realize is that many vegetables contain quite a bit of protein. if you are eating a balanced diet (i.e. lots of fruits and vegetables and not going crazy on cakes and cookies just because they're vegetarian) then protein is not going to be your issue at all. you don't have to cram yourself full of tofu and beans if you don't want to.
the only real omission from a vegetarian diet is vitamin B12, and sometimes some essential fatty acids. you can easily get a supplement for these. flaxseed is a good source of fatty acids if you don't want to take fish oil.
speaking of fish, vegetarians do not eat fish! or chicken! or any kind of animal!
For anything about vegetarians go to www.petta2.com or i think its www.peta2.com one of those tow
They have all this lists of foods you can and can't eat and many recipes!
Vegetarians "can" eat fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and grains. pretty much all the food that Nature intended for us to eat. If it is an animal product or has animal products in it you should avoid it if you want to maintain or develop good health. Studies have shown that animal products are a major contributor to many diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.
Make beans and rive your friends to get plenty of protein (you don't need as much as others will try and get you to believe and all vegggies have protein in them, too!).
It's really not hard. Just educate yourself on ingredients that are animal products (there are sites all over the web with guides and sooo many recipes you could google for days) and read labels until you get the hang of it. The easiest way to avoid hidden animal products is to just make your own food and avoide packaged crap. It's fun to try new recipes and cooking from scratch if very therapuetic and rewarding!
You're making a good choice. I hope you just decide to jump in and go vegan. It's so much healthier. When you get cravings just think to yourself, "Man, how sad is it that all that crap food used to have SUCH a hold over me?" and then remember that you are stronger than that. When you have a plate full o frseh salad and veggies and you find yourself wanting a pizza instead, think to yourself how much healthier the salad is and recognize that your body would prefer the salad so that pizza craving is coming from your ADDICTION to crap food, not from anywhere rational. Hope that helps!
One last bit of advice: keep track of your calories for a while. it's very easy to not get enough calories because fruits and veggies dont' have much. Incorporate things like brown rice and sprouted grain breads to get your calories up. When you feel hungry but you are just not in the mood for salads or fruit, try a warm bowl of beans. There are so many recipes out there that you really won't go hungry if you put some effort into it.
Good luck!
I've been a vegetarian for 2 years now and I find that it's the best life change ever made! There are not many things that you can't eat, just meat and meat products.
You can eat ANYTHING with no meat
Good sorces of protein are legumes, beans, peanut butter and it's always good to drink protien shakes 3-4 times a week.
There are really good faux-meats, my favourite company is called Oh! Natural, it has fake chicken nuggets, chicken cordon bleu, ground beef, chicken burgers, meat balls, all 100% meat free.
There is lots of information on www.peta2.com check it out!
Well, in my personal experience,
I do not eat meat or eggs and everything else I can eat.
You have to watch very keenly for the ingredients for icecreams, cakes, cookies, soups, etc.
some of the things I listed have some egg-free/meat-free recipes.

There are different types of vegetarians, all the way from hard core vegans, who don't even eat cheese, to semi-vegetarians who eat chicken and fish but not red meat like beef or pork. Just do whatever feels right for you. Decide what you will and will not eat, try it out for a while, and make adjustments as necessary. Every person is unique.
