I think you should cut down.
The health benefits of eating tuna have been widely established; it is a relatively inexpensive source of high-quality protein, low in saturated fat and contains omega-3 fatty acids, touted for their heart-protective benefits.
But tuna also contains mercury, a dangerous contaminant that can affect the heart, brain and immune system.
There have been links to high levels of Mercury in canned tuna.
It is still good for you though. It has high Omega 3 content.
yes it is lotsa protein! not to much fat it's good
There is mercury in tuna, and in higher amounts in the solid white cuts.
Mercury, and other heavy metals, have been associated with brain problems. It is recommended that you limit your intake of tuna ESPECIALLY if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as the mercury can pass on to your child.
Yes
Of course
don't let people fool you
there are too many inspectors and industrial tests..
i don't care for seafood myself, but i have heard that to much of any fish contains too much mercury. i know it's not good for a pregnant woman to eat more than one serving of fish a day, because the mercury is harmful to the baby, but i don't know about how it affects those who aren't pregnant.
Tuna is great, little or no fat and pure protein. I'm assuming the one you consume is canned. Just stick with the light one.
According to the FDA, you're ok with 12 oz/week.
Stay away from Albacore due to higher levels of mercury in it.
Studies have shown that tuna contains mercury. In terms of your health, you should definitely reduce your consumption levels of tuna fish if you are eating it almost every day. If you like tuna, try cooking with seitan, tofu or eggplants, instead.
it is great for you,but try and cut back some too much of anything is not healthy.
no
It has mercury
Why is this in the vegetarian forum?
If poison is good for you, eat all of the tuna that you want.
No it's not.
It is full of cholesterol.
Do you want to die of heart disease?
Also, I figured everyone knew about the MERCURY by now. They've only been reporting it for a couple decades now.
You're asking this on a VEGETARIAN forum because....?
