Do all chickens kept outside have their wings clipped?!

Question: If they are kept outside/uncovered are their wings always clipped to stop them flying?
Are there certain breeds that can't fly anyway?
Thanks for the info.

Most are clipped, but I don't think they need to be.
They will hang around home anyway -- they're not going to take off. They can fly up in to a tree or onto a roof etc.

Chickens can't fly!

chicken can't fly

Chickens are not a bird that can fly, they give it a go though!
They are to heavy......

they can fly, but only for short distances; therefore, most do not have clipped wings.

I have chickens and they do fly (not very far bit enough to escape) so clip their wings

where will checkens fly to? Just hope they don't collide with them choppers in the sky!

Domestic chickens are not capable of long distance flight, although they are generally capable of flying for short distances such as over fences. Chickens will sometimes fly to explore their surroundings, but usually do so only to flee perceived danger. Because of the risk of escape, chickens raised in open-air pens generally have one of their wings clipped by the breeder — the tips of the longest feathers on one of the wings are cut, resulting in unbalanced flight which the bird cannot sustain for more than a few meters.

Chickens are what they call ground birds. They won't fly away but they will jump and flap pretty high. No need to clip wings though.

i assume so and chickens CAN fly, but very low and for lil amounts of time! ever watched Chicken Run? lol

Chickens used to nest in trees in Asia before we slowly mutilated them over time

I hope not. That would cut down on the supply of yummy hot wings.
