Egg-free royal icing recipe?!
The royal icing is used to cement the house together as well as decorating the outside.
I need to be able to get any ingredients in Australia.
Thanks in advance.
Answers: I make gingerbread houses for Christmas and need an egg-free royal icing recipe for my great-niece who is allergic to eggs. She is also allergic to milk so it must be completely dairyfree.

Where ever egg is called for in most places it can be replaced with a cornstarch and oil paste for icings or for breads and cakes cornstarch egg and extra baking powder or yeast! see my yahoo blog ca.360.yahoo.com/ddherbals
instead of using royal icing you could just mix icing sugar and water together its not a glossy as royal icing but would do the trick other than that the only other way i could think of you doing it would be a butter cream but substitute the butter for soya margarine
Go to a cake decorating shop. There is a product you can buy which is in powder form.

Reviewed on Dec. 19, 2003 by BABYLADY4 Excellent!! Used to decorate my gingerbread cookies, worked well and dried fast so I could get them put away. Tip; use ziploc freezer bags with a decorator tip fastened in a corner. This allows you to work off and on without worrying about the frosting drying out on you.

Reviewed on Dec. 17, 2005 by TABLESPOON I used it for 100 gingerbread houses at school (I'm a teacher) and it worked like a charm. So much easier than using egg whites!! I bought the meringue powder in bulk.
