Have I suddenly turned into a vegetarian?!
Answers: I woke up last week feeling REALLY sick. Then I had breakfast but I wasn't feeling my usual 2 eggs and turkey bacon, so I had a slice of toast and some fruit. But then throughout the day, the thought of eating any meat made my stomach turn so I had vegetables, fruit, and cereal. It's been like 4 days and I haven't had any meat at... The thought of it sort of makes me want to puke and makes my stomach turn. Have I suddenly turned in to a vegetarian or is this just a phase? Anyone went through this before? It's just really weird.
You seem to be following youre body's requests.
Its the most suitable for you right now,
That might change, you get to choose if your a vegetarian or not, i would continue to listen to your body and see if your health improves.I havent eaten animal products for over 15 years and im healthy 37 yo.
You don't just turn into a vegetarian, honey. So no. It is good for you, though.
oh my - are you pregnant? that's what happened to me. I was cooking ground beef and the smell made me soooo sick that I turned away from meat for about the first 2 months completely!
Idk if it’s a phase, if you really don’t like meat and it suddenly made you feel sick like that, then don’t eat it. It won’t hurt you not to as long as you have enough protein from beans and soy milk. To make a complete protein, eat beans with bread. There’s also TVP and Tofu. Very good. ^_^
yeah i agree she probably is pregnant. that's what happened to me when i smelled certain stuff.
u just can't turn into a vegeterian,think its a phase
I would tend to agree with the pregnancy theory, but if that is not the case then perhaps it is just a phase. If you were really feeling sick then your body was probably telling you what it needed. If you are still feeling "sick" after a week, check with your doctor.
I believe it is possible, that some people can become vegetarians not through a concious choice but through a sudden distaste for meat.
Not everyone who is vegetarian is doing it for ethical reasons, some people simply do not like the taste or smell of meat, I am one of those people.
About a year ago I started a new medication, which I have since stopped, but ever since then even the sight of meat mde me feel sick. This was incredibly strange for me because I was known in my family as being the meat lover.
After all this happened I have opened my eyes more to the ethical reasons of being both vegetarian and vegan. I don't wear leather shoes anymore and I always make an informed decision about the milk and eggs etc. I eat and the conditions the animals used o produce them are subjected too.
So basically I believe the answer is yes, for one reason or another your body can suddenly turn off your desire to eat meat, as a result of physiological or mental reasons.
I would encourage you to follow what your body is telling you, don't try to force youself to eat meat... just do what comes naturally :)
Good luck.
Yeah I was gonnas say, could you be preggo..but if you're sure
Vegetarianism is MOST OFTEN a choice made, it would be extremely rare that someone would SUDDENLY be grossed out by meat without an obvious reason (watching PETA videos, seeing an animal slaughtered..)
THere are a few explanations
A.. you could be experiencing a mild ilness (like one time when I had a cold.. I couldn't STAND the smell/taste of anything with vinegar. This is ME..the vinegaraholic who at other times could be caught drinking the juice from the empty jar of pickles, or eating sweet relish witih a spoon.)
B. You ate some bad meat recently and your system is still dealing with it.... I've had food poisioning 4 times in my life!! And let me tell you.. when I was sick from FP, my stomach made it VERY Clear what I should eat and what I shouldn't. One time I wandered for an hour around the grocery store, trying to figure out what to eat, and the only thing I finally found, that didn't turn my stomach at the thought of eating it, was wheat chex and soymilk.
It might pass.. it might not.. hard to say!
If it doesn't., It's a good time to think about going vegetarian though! It's a really healthy way to live, if done right! THink about it!
It could be a phase, that is why I avoid things I like while I am sick or else I will hate it afterwards. Technicly we are all vegetarians until we grab that hamburger.
erm, well, its wierd, but hell, if you can stay vegetarian well done.
That happened to me. I went vegan literally over night. Not a bad thing either...just do what your body tells you.
Your thoughts are based on thinking of becoming a vegetarian. Eating meats somehow you think it is unclean and digestion is a question.
nearly 90% of those in villages r eating only vegetables 6 days a week, they r fine.
It's possible. After I turned 30, my body stopped being able to digest meat, and I became more and more disgusted with the stuff. I actually made a conscious choice to go veg one day simply because I could no longer tolerate meat. I have since gone from being just generally squicked out by meat to being a full-on vegan activist.
Listen to what your body tells you. I know when I've been eating well and when I haven't by my body's signals. If you feel better not eating meat, that's a perfectly valid reason to go vegetarian, and it doesn't matter that you sort of "backed into" this diet. However, many people here will tell you that after you haven't had meat for a while, your body will adjust and you may get REALLY sick if you try to eat it again.
Maybe. You have seen something somewhere that was disgusting and developed a subliminal ad-version to animal products. That's kinda what happened to me. If that's the case, just roll with it. Just make sure and get all your nutrients.
Make sure and eat beans, grains and nuts in order to replace
the meat.
Maybe this is a sign that meat can be rather unhealthy... I don't know, but I guess it's healthy for you to give up meat...
