Answers: i am on weight watchers and need to know what to count. Thx.

you should ask that question at your weight watchers meeting so you can count your points..end there all right its a legume. a protein..

They are actually in the protien group

They are a "legume"

They take the place of meat and give you protien..

they are actually known as pulses and belong to the same group as lentils.

When I worked at a child care center, we could use beans as a meat replacement or as a vegetable.

Beans can be considered a "vegetable" even given the subjective nature of use the term. Traditionally, vegetable refers to the portion of plants that is eaten. Checkout Wikipedia's entry:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegetable

They are legumes. It's up to you as to whether you call them vegetables because they are vegetation.

Yes =) They are starchy vegetables (legumes) I believe because of a there high protein and carbohydrates

i would not consider beans a vegetable
they are proteins and soooo much better than meat

It depends on whether you're referring to the seeds (protein) or the pods like green beans (vegetable).
