Delicious tofu?!


Question: I hate tofu. Even in my miso soup, which I love. I hate the tofu. I pick it out and I don't pick anything out of my food normally. So I want to know, what am I missing that is good about tofu, and where can I get tasty tofu, or a great tofu recipe?

My profile has tips on how to avoid mushy tofu syndrome, which must be what's turning you off about tofu. Even I hate it when restaurants serve me gloppy cubes of silken tofu with no flavoring. Hello! It's tofu! Please flavor it before serving it to me!

Silken tofu (the kind in the aseptic box) is best for soups, salad dressings, puddings, pies, and other creamy substances.

Trying drinking soy milk first. It may taste weird at first, but you'll get used to it and tofu will taste much better!
Also, try extra firm tofu, and you can bread it and bake it, or you can adjust yourself to the taste of it by using it in dessert recipes, just google them and see what interests you.

Don't eat tofu with a substance that has the same bland taste...like cheese, or bread. It might make you want to gag.

This is what I do to get the benefits of tofu without having to taste the rubberiness.

Try cutting it to very small pieces to cut down the rubbery feeling in your mouth. Fry this in a gravy with crunchy veggies like carrots, onions, and baby corn. Make it spicy if you can handle spice. Oh, and the flavour green capsicum adds to a dish covers the chalky taste of tofu, so you may add that. Cover the tofu pieces up with gravy with each helping.

There are many kind of tofu. Silk tofu (just like in the miso soup), firm ones. They will taste according to the spice you mixed.
Actually it's so easy to cook them & make 'em delicious. You could just deep fried it & eat 'em with soysauce or make stuffed deep fried tofu with stir-fried veg (carrot, bean sprout, cabbage, thyme seasoned with garlic, pepper, salt). You can also check the link below for other tofu recipes

Maybe you just don't like tofu, it doesn't matter :-)

Have you ever tried tofu cheesecake, maybe you'd like that? It's sweet so different.

Maybe you don't like tofu. Not everyone does. Just try eating other veggie foods rich in protein.
I myself have never eaten tofu, I don't know how it's like, I haven't seen any in my country where I live.

You should probably go to a restaurant that has some choices of good tofu dishes and try them. There are many different kinds of tofu (silken, soft, firm, nigari styles, baked, fried, marinated, fermented, tofu skin/sheet, etc... All have various tastes in various dishes.

It's OK not to like tofu. But, prepared well, it can be really good. If you press all the moisture out of it, it can then soak up all the flavors you cook it with (put it between layers of paper towels, then weigh it down with a couple big hardback books for about an hour.)
