Well, there is fake leather now and sneakers were never made from leather anyway. At home. you can wear your feet's birthday suit...everyone should unless you live in an igloo.

It's vegans who don't wear leather products or eat any animal products

nope,,,,,unless u dont eat up your leather shoes....

children from 3rd world countries

birkenstock?

rubber boots, thongs, flip flops

Of course it's a consideration. You people really need to find new stuff. Just because YOU *just* thought of these things doesn't mean we never have.

Some vegetarians don't wear leather...some do. It's more of about why you went vegetarian that would determine that. Now vegans don't wear leather, wool, and the like no matter why they became vegan.

If you don't wear leather shoes....there are many other kinds of shoes. Shoes made out of canvas for instance... Good ole cheap flip flops aren't made of leather.. There are shoes made of hemp fibers... There are special websites for those shoes...more than one...they have great variety too..... Not to mention all the shoes made from some sort of man made fibers... And many others. There is alot of choices...I mean think about it love...non leather shoes are everywhere.

BTW...some veggies will also wear leather...just not pay for it. They buy it second hand. That they aren't contributing to the demand for leather...since they weren't the ones who actually bought the shoes....the person who bought them is. Not all veggies practice this way of thinking though...so don't take that the wrong way. Just know that just because they wear leather doesn't mean they went against the "unwriten" rules. Some like me think that's a good idea...but wouldn't actually do it...I was born with all the skin I need.

You're being extremely presumptuous in thinking that you know what any one individual's beliefs are. Vegetarianism is not a belief so much as a preference. It could be that they just don't like meat or prefer not to eat it for health reasons. It may not have anything whatsoever to do with not wanting to slaughter animals for food.

rubber shoes? hehe

You think that shoes are only made of leather?

LOL

I wear basketball shoes. Leather shoes! Yes, you could say I am a hypocrite, but I am not a vegetarian for animal rights reasons.

Am vegetarian, I wear any material that's not leather or fake leather, sandals usually.

I don't tend to eat my shoes, so it's not an issue for me. I'm a vegetarian for my health and I don't think that eating shoes is healthy, whatever they're made of. I think you may be a little confused about the definition of 'vegetarian'.

Shoes made from man-made materials (no leather)
I'm a vegan.

I think you should ask vegans about this because vegetarians do not completely eliminate animal products but vegans really do not support animal products/ unethical use of animal processing, even leather. But we have PVC (crocs) and pleather. PETA (People for Ethical Treatment towards Animals) are advocating pleather.

I think you're most likely talking about vegans.
But: nowadays most stuff is made of fake leather.

There are loads of vegan shoes on the market... birkenstock have a great vegan specific range and a lot of shoes that aren't even trying to be vegan are... not all shoes are made of leather!

I wear a synthetic fake leather at work. I've had the boots for about four years now and they still look practically new. They've lasted longer than anyone else at works. On my days off i wear cork and hemp flip flops or a pair of cloth slippers from India around the house. Yes, I even wear flip flops in the winter. I can't stand having my feet restricted on my days off.

Vegetarians can wear leather shoes. The definition of vegetarian is only abstaining from eating meat, vegetarians can still wear and even use animal by products like eggs and milk.
Did you mean vegans?
Not all vegetarians are vegetarians for "animal" reasons, some of us have medical reasons as well.

I don't wear leather or any other animal product and I have plenty of shoes. I have satin pumps, canvas sneakers, boots made from man made materials, etc

There are plenty of shoes out there not made of leather. If you go to Payless, you'll find them easily. I even have some really cozy winter boots made of a neoprene fabric that I just adore.
