I want to be a vegan.?!

Question: I can't promise I'll do it.. But I want to try. Just there's a few problems, I've been a vegeterian for over five months I think, but I eat fish, I of course will stop that to. Here's the problem, I'm not exactally underweight but I am not average weight, and its more of that I'm losing more weight. This is probably my fault, I don't eat three times a day, I usually don't eat breakfast because I'm in a rush for school, and I hate the school lunches, and I sometimes eat dinner but sometimes my family gets something I can't eat, I suppose I could just eat ceral, but I'm going vegan so what am I supposed to use then? I want some tips on gaining weight off vegan products, telling my mom because she's defenitely going to yell at me and make a big deal out of it, and I want to know if there's anything like fake milk or something? I'm fifteen years old btw, thought I'd throw that in there.
Okay, throw the data at me!

I'm going to give you the mom advice first. That was hardest for me. I'm only 13 and this worked, so have faith. Be sure to remind her that this is YOUR life, YOUR choice, and it doesn't matter, you're GOING to do it. My mom through a fit, saying she would make me drink milk or make me eat meat. I just reminded her of the BENEFITS of being vegan, because there are waaay more pros than cons. Then I took her to the store and showed her that there was just as much protein and calcium in soy milk than there is in regular milk. Tell her that it's easy, too, because it really is. That's what they make food labels for! Also, go to GoVeg.com, Peta.com, Peta2.com, and VegCooking.com to get some facts and figures. It ups your chances. I actually wrote a letter to break the news to my mom and dad, and, hey, it worked! It took a couple days of arguing and pleading, but I'm vegan and proud of it. Hang in there, and DON'T BACK DOWN. This is YOUR life, and YOU'RE going to live it how YOU want to live it. Don't let that out of your head.

For the gaining weight advice...um...I don't really know. If you do become vegan, you REALLLLLY need to watch those vitamins and stuff or you could get sick. Take it from someone who's experienced it. Be careful is all I'm saying. Otherwise, it's super fun and easy.

There are SO many kinds of milk replacements out there. Soy Milk, Almond Milk, Rice Milk, and tons of different companies, coming in all flavors. I usually buy a chocolate for enjoyable drinking and a regular for cereal and stuff. It's stocked full of calcium, too! Bonus!

If you're in love with eggs, there are egg replacers. No joke. I've never tried them, but just be sure that they're not real. There are tons of different options. Try them all and pick your favorite!

Also, vegans do not wear/use wool, fur, real feathers, or ANYTHING that comes from animals. That means Jell-O or pudding (there are ground up horse and cow hooves in it.) Honey, either. You have to buy beauty products that aren't tested on animals. Look on the back of the bottle/case. You've got to be careful. Animal products are ALL around you. Don't get stuck!

REMEMBER:
Being vegan is EASY!
You'll be HEALTHIER!
You'll be HAPPIER!
You'll be CRUELTY-FREE!
You'll look BETTER!
You'll be saving MILLIONS OF ANIMALS!
You'll be making the BEST CHOICE OF YOUR LIFE!

Remember all that and you're going for the gold! =) Hope I helped! This all worked for me, I hope it works for you, too!

also I don't wear fur defenitely, totally against that, the only feathers I touch are ones I've collected in my backyard or at the park Report It

First, there is nothing wrong with being a vegan but at fifteen you need to be really careful you are eating the proper things. Lack of vitamins and minerals at your age could do some real damage to your body. I would suggest you see a nutritionist. This way they can see you and give you a proper diet. No one online can guild you with out seeing you. You can find one a most Gyms, or maybe at your school. Vegan is a hard thing to do, with so many things that have animal based products in them you have to read alot of labels. Good Luck and be careful.

First of all, you need to be eating more than you are; skipping meals and consuming too few calories is not good for you. You really need to try to make breakfast a priority. Odwalla bars are pretty tasty and filling and come in fruity varieties as well as my favorite, chocolate chip peanut. You could get some single-serving soymilks (they have chocolate, vanilla, strawberry as well as plain) or juice boxes and grab a drink and a bar on the way out the door, for example.

You can maintain a healthy weight as a vegan, and you can get all the nutrients you need. But you've got to be willing to put a little more emphasis on eating well than you have been. I recommend a couple of books. "Becoming Vegan" by Brenda Davis and Vesanto Melina is everything you (and your mom) will need to know about vegan nutrition. The other, "Vegan with a Vengeance" is just a really good cookbook - hopefully you know how to cook for yourself or are willing to learn. You could even make fabulous vegan dinners for your family.

Take a look at this blog. You will see many recipes and ideas for vegan diet:

I think you should stick to a normal diet until you are mature enough to handle a vegan diet. You can damage your health severely by just eating a few things. Some vitamin deficiencies are very harmful and irreversible. Look it up if you don't believe me.
