A person who does not consume ANY product originating from an animal. From the obvious-Filet Mignon, eggs, to the more subtle, Oreo cookies, J-e-l-l-o.
People who become vegan for moral reasons also do not wear or use anything that's made from any animal part or by-product.
It's a person that is obsessed with not eating anything that has anything derived from an animal , in it. Including bees. And this seems to extend to clothing, and probably means they drive cars with vinyl upholstery. But, don't seem to know where oil and gas come from.
Vegetarians do not eat meat, fish, or poultry. Vegans, in addition to being vegetarian, do not use other animal products and by-products such as eggs, dairy products, honey, leather, fur, silk, wool, cosmetics, and soaps derived from animal products.
In addition, vegans don't purchase things that are tested on animals (besides what is mandated by law.)
A person who chooses not to eat, use or wear anything that comes from an animal or is tested on an animal.

A vegan is someone who adheres to a lifestyle that excludes ALL exploitation of animals. There are very few vegans in the world that can meet these lofty standards.
Some people who call themselves vegan have decided that if it involves more effort than shopping at a vegan friendly store, then it's not required to still be a vegan.
