Why are vegans so self-righteous?!

Question: Why do they think that just because they don't eat the meat of the animals that God has provided for them to eat that they're somehow "better" people?

Arrrhhh, this will be the fictitious "they" again.

How many vegans do you know?

This question make you seem "self-righteous" because you are categorizing a whole group off people

Heart attacks... God's revenge for eating his little animal friends. ~Author Unknown

that's not true..they just like animals.

The vegans I know aren't-maybe you just hang out with losers in general : )

I don't think you can make a blanket statement for everyone like that. I too can speak only for myself - I am a vegan and I don't think that this choice of mine makes me "better" than others. It only makes ME feel Better about myself. Before making this choice I went through a lot of intensive thinking and I made a very conscious decision in the end. Even though a vegan lifestyle is very tough as I said earlier it makes me very happy about myself at the end of the day.

Oh, you've met every vegan person that there is?

Impressive.

They are doing the BEST that they can which is BETTER than not doing anything.

Why are meat eaters so papranoid? Did you ever think some people just don't eat meat because they don't like it and not because they're in some contest against the carnivores?

First of all, I don't believe in "god." Second of all, even if I did, I wouldn't be so arrogant as to presume that "he" created the animals for humans to exploit. There is a difference between "dominion" and "domination" besides the "at." Third, why are meat-eaters so defensive when a veg*an comes within twenty miles of them?

I don't think I'm better than anyone else, but I do think that being vegan is the best thing for me.

I don't believe I am better than those who eat meat. As far as God providing meat for mankind.....have you noticed that lifespans before God gave permission to eat meat were decided longer than after He gave permission to eat meat (after the flood). There was a steady decline in life spans after they started eating meat. Kind of makes me wonder.....

And exactly how many vegans do you know? I know many, and not one of them is self-righteous or full of themselves. It makes me sick that meat-eaters think that vegetarians and vegans "don't have enough vitamins or protein to think straight." Everybody has an opinion, everybody does what they want. Some people think it's okay to stomp on chickens heads and steal their babies to make some kid's Happy Meal, and some people think it's better to avoid consuming anything that had a face or a mother. Take your pick, but one day, this world will be vegan.

Read your bible. God did not put animals on Earth for man to eat. It says so in Genisis. God punished man for eating animals, hence origional sin. Sound familiar? Then he punished man for his disobedience by only allowing him to eat those animals which were already found dead. He did not say man was allowed to kill any animal. After man served his punishment god gave him back the harvest. Don't try to use gods name to justify your decision. You should fell ashamed of yourself. I do think I'm a better person for not contributing to suffering and carnage. Maybe you should think of how to better yourself.

Some people do get overly enthusiastic about whatever they are into, and are seen as annoying by others.

But it's huge generalization to write off an entire group like that. People have different personalities whether they are vegetarian or not.

God didn't put animals on Earth for us to slaughter and consume.

I'm not self-righteous.. but I feel good about myself and much healthier because of my choice. I think most vegetarians and vegans will agree with that.

I don't feel that I'm 'better' than anyone because I'm vegan.

I also don't just assume that I know how someone else feels about anything.

Who says that we think we're "better"? You're making a very large generalization based on what I can only assume is very limited knowledge, and that never leads to anything good (i.e. racism, sexism, etc.)

Um, why not?

That's not what self-righteous really means, you know.
It just means that one is righteous or moral in their on opinion. Doesn't mean 'better'. It means that they think they are acting in the 'right' (read 'correct') manner.

Religious people also believer the same of themselves or whomever. We're all doing what we believe to be best for ourselves, no? Well, I guess most people follow the ignorance-is-bliss attitude. Vegetarians do not go around killing people for not following the same moral path, as some do. Vegetarianism is more about education, peacefulness, etc.

God? OOOookay... if you want to follow some mythical creature who's words were written by humans then highly edited etc., instead of just opening your eyes to what's real, go ahead.

Not enough vitamins in the brain for them to realize that they are pains in the azz
