Is anything in McDonalds vegetarian?!
The disclaimer on the McDonald's website reads: "No products are certified as vegetarian; all products may contain trace amounts of ingredients derived from animals."
Stated in another way on its FAQ page, McDonald's states that "McDonald's does not represent any of our foods as being vegetarian. However, we gladly accommodate customer requests to custom-order items without meat (i.e., without beef, pork, chicken or fish). Note that even though we provide the flexibility to order items without meat, we cannot guarantee that during preparation the item does not come into contact with meat or poultry."
i think the above statement from MCDs clears things up nicely for us.
Nothing in MCDs can be treated as vegetarian
I know its not really a question, as I've provided the answer, but there are people who seem to thing MCDs have several veggie products, they don't.
Answers: Well, in case you were thinking of answering "yes", here is the truth as taken directly from McDonalds.

id never eat at mcdonalds even there veggie burger..no way
I think Ohio State is gonna win it all this year. The Browns Rule!!!!
Carrot sticks and fruit salad are vegetarian options.
I don't even think they serve BEEF, let alone vegetarian options.
thanks, luckily i wont eat in there anyway, as far as i can remember everything tasted like salt, fat or sugar, i would rather spend more money and get a nice meal.
ACTUALY.... most McDonalds now offer bottled water. So yes, you can get something from McDonalds that is animal free. Buahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
They're not guaranteeing that anything is vegetarian, so beyond the straightforward pieces of fruit and vegetable, you can't completely trust anything to be 100% vegetarian, Fries may be fried in tallow (a type of fat that is extracted from an animal's body) and an apple pie may contain this fat. I say may, because most of the time this is likely not to be the case - therefore you can eat McDonalds if you're just trying to avoid meat products, but if you're a really committed vegetarian, don't go there.
I think Grimace was, thats why he left because they did not support his views.
I knew it. Not as a fact, but somehow I could feel it.
I remember reading in Fast Food Nation about the fries being fried in oil that contained animal fats. After reading that I didn't think there was anything not containing animal fat. I question even the salad dressings from them. Ha!
I don't get it. They can do it in India but won't do it here? What's the big deal with providing a vegetarian menu?
You would think they'd jump on the bandwagon (Subway, Burger King etc) and have the their veggie burger here.
Edit: This is from Fast Food Nation:
"For decades McDonald's cooked its french fries in a mixture of about seven percent cottonseed oil and 93 percent beef tallow. The mixture gave the fries their unique flavor -- and more saturated beef fat per ounce than a McDonald's hamburger."
His original article that he based the book off of is at this link:

I don't even think the napkins are vegetarian.
Ew. That's disgusting! I'm never ordering from McDonalds again.
Actually, the french fries might qualify as vegetarian as well. The oil blend was switched over to a rapeseed/sunflower oil concoction recently, and the fries are kept separate from the meat. I've heard whispering in the online conspiracy theory circuits that they use meat flavoring on the fries, and I know that's now true.
So as long as they're not drenching the potatoes in meat before packaging them, the fries are safe, as are the salads. These products are shipped in separate containers and none of their prep is mixed with the grill stuffs.
McDonalds states they can't guarantee the vegetarian integrity because the food is prepared in an environment where meat is present, and they don't want to get sued. It's like the waiver you sign before skydiving; there will be a lot of air, and you will be moving through it rather quickly, so even though you're wearing a parachute, you might still die. You chose the risk.
So, is that disclaimer because even the salad may have been fertilized with rendered animal products or manure? ;-)
BTW- What question are we supposed to be answering?
Have you posted those links yet, michael h?
"....trace amounts of ingredients derived from animals" could simply mean there is milk in the salad dressing or egg on the salad. That wouldn't make it unsuitable for vegetarians. Vegans yes, vegetarians no.
Also, living so paranoid that the spatula used to flip your bun might have been the same one that flipped a burger is probably going to kill you from stress faster than cholesterol ever could.
In any case, it's a moot point. All this is just legal-speak McDonald's has too include in everything since lawyers got a hold of the world and might try to make a quick buck by suing on behalf of some nutty vegetarian that had some grease spatter on their salad. For chrissake, they have a disclaimer on the side of their coffee cups now that says "CAUTION!! Hot Beverage".
Well no ****....it's a friggin' cup of coffee!!!!
Which is why it is so nice to live in the UK where fast food restaurants including McDonalds do actually sell many items suitable for vegetarians, has had items approved by the Vegetarian Society and are currently working towards getting more so approved.
Although I don't tend to eat in these places I think it is very important that we support their efforts to sell suitable foods so that those vegetarians who do want to eat there can.
i remember hearing that their french fries were (or are) soaked in beef tallow for flavoring, but damn, i was hoping their water was safe. oh well.
I guess it doesn't really matter to me - I prefer not to support much the fast food industry anyway. Occasionally I'll eat at Subway or Jimmy John's but that's about it.
this assumes they're actually serving beef and chicken.
Is this a rant?
