I was reading that sugar comes from animal bone?!
Answers: Is there a sugar that does not? And does it have a specific name?
I think I know what you're after here. :)
Raw sugar usually comes from a plant source, the most common being sugar cane and sugar beet. The concern about animal bones comes from the use of a bone char filter which is made from (you 've guessed it) cow bones. The bone char filter is used to whiten sugar as most people like their sugar to be white. There are other ways to whiten sugar. The use of ion or carbon filters do the same thing without using cow bones.
Obviously, if you want to be totally vegan or vegitarian, only buy white sugar not processed with bone char or even start buying the unrefined or less refined sugar. Interesting to note is that beet sugar producers don't use bone char filters to whiten their sugar. vrg.org (the last link below) has the most comprehensive details.
Hope this helps. :)
Sugar comes from the sugar cane plant...not animal bone.
Sugar comes from sugar cane that is grown from the ground... who told you that they get sugar from animal bone?
i don't think so. sugar come from a plant called cane
Only plants can make sugar, such as beets, corn and cane.
Sugar comes from different places, mostly sugarcane.
Just found this:

Sugar comes from sugar cane. Other sweeteners include corn syrup, honey, barley malt, etc. I have NEVER heard of a sugar coming from an animal bone.
sucrose and fructose both occur naturally in plants - sucrose -what we call table sugar - is extracted from sugar cane or sugar beet.
Sugar does not come from animal bone. The best thing I can tell you to do is do your research and get it from an unbiased source.
Your body needs sugar for energy. Glucose, fructose, etc... are all broken down from carbohydrates, whether it be from bread or fruit, or something obviously sugary like candy.
where did you read that? that article is false, yes sugar cane is an organic compound as is animal bone, but sugar cane is an extract from a plant not an animal.
The correct name is: Saccharum
with a variety of species for the plant

Calm down, sugar comes from a plant.
No sugar comes from a plant called sugar cane. It is totally ok for a vegetarian or vegan to eat. Gelatine comes from animal bone though maybe you were thinking or that.
sugar does not come from animal bones but it is sometimes processed thru animal bones. Your best bet is to use raw sugar.
Sugar does not come from animal bone, it comes from sugar cane or beets. Some refined white sugar is filtered through bone char, which is burned animal bone. The major brands of cane sugar sold in the US, C&H and Domino, are indeed filtered through bone char. Beet sugar is not. If you are concerned, you can get a brand like Florida Crystals at Whole Foods or other health food store that is not filtered through bone char.
no it comes from the sugar can plant but maybe they were thinking of gelatin which does comes from animal bones I have heard
Some of the healthier sweeteners would be stevia, sucanot, real maple syrup, raw honey, date sugar, barley malt and maple sugar...
